September Boxycharm {Unboxing}

Happy FriYAY gals!!! This was a 4 day week, but it felt like a 40 day one to me. Anybody else? I was wondering why it seems like I literally just did a Boxycharm unboxing??? Then it hit me that I did my last one so late (first week in September), so it seems this one came around rather fast. If you want to know more about Boxycharm, I’ve done quite a few posts on it already, so go check some of them out:

April unboxing

July unboxing

August unboxing

What is Boxycharm?  In a nutshell, this is a $21 US-based beauty box subscription. We receive 4 to 5 full-sized products every month and lately they have been by some really high-end and well-known brands. Think Tarte, Ofra, Colourpop with spoilers of Becca and Cover FX coming in the near future. Pretty impressive right? The August unboxing contains a step by step on how to sign up.

The September box was themed ‘Boxy Baddie’ and the card is really cool…dusty pink cammo kind of vibes. She’s bad, but she wears pink! Just so we’re clear 😉 As usual, let’s dig in and find out #WhatsInTheBox

Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette by Pur Cosmetics (RSP $34.00)

This essential palette is filled with highly pigmented and silky smooth shadows.

The packaging is really sturdy and feels luxurious (for cardboard). It has a similar marble design as the Carli Bybel palette, but this is just more cool toned and less white. There is a great mirror inside this palette. There are 12 shadows, consisting of 8 mattes and 4 shimmers. This seems like a really versatile palette. They’ve arranged the shades in the 4 columns for you to have an easy and convenient way to quickly put a look together.

Nikki tutorials used this palette in her You Tube video with Kim Kardashian West here if you want to see the look she created. These blend beautifully and even though it looks like just another neutral palette, it’s actually really lovely. The burnt orange/brown looks stunning in the crease. I do find the matte shades are a bit dry, but they blend just fine. Also a bit of kick up, so tap the excess shadow off your brush before blending. (My pictures of the palette came out bad, so I took this picture off the PUR Cosmetics website. I will try to load some swatches onto my insta stories later. )

Brow Pencil by MAC cosmetics (RSP $18.00)

Self-propelling, self-sharpening and brow-defining.

I received mine in the shade Spiked and this is the pencil that I already use almost every day. Mine had just finished a week before my Boxycharm arrived, so I was really happy to get this pencil in my box. I know I usually pay around R210 for it. No review needed…I LOVE this pencil. It glides on, it stays put, but you can move it around if you need to fix up anything. The tip is a great size to really be precise with your brows.

Ultra Satin lip by Colourpop (RSP $6.00)

High pigmentation and a satin-matte finish in liquid lipstick form to keep your lips comfy all day.

This shade (Little Stitious) just seems too pink for me, so into the giveaway/gift pile it will go.

Loose Blush by Studio Makeup (RSP35.00)

This lightweight blush provides a vibrant pop of colour for the natural healthy look.

This blush is a beautiful dusty rose/bronze shade and I think it would suit my skin tone, BUT (aren’t I just so practical and responsible) I just purchased a blush palette, so I don’t need to open this. Guess where it’s going?

Face perfecting brush by Bare Minerals (RSP $28.00)

This patented makeup brush lets you adjust your foundation coverage by the drop for a perfectly seamless foundation application.

I really hoped to get this brush, so I am so excited that I did. I’ve used it 3 times now with 2 different foundations and I just LOVE this brush. I love the coverage and the fact that I can use it to stipple or buff my foundation in. This brush is a winner in my books. I also use less foundation vs my beautyblender or other makeup sponges.

Don’t Despair Repaid Deep Conditioning mask by Briogeo (RSP $20.00)

An intensive weekly treatment to restore essential hydration and enhance hair’s resilience to protect against future damage.

This is another product I was really looking forward to as I am trying to treat my hair as much as possible.

The total value of this box was $141, which is around R1 900, versus a total cost of R400. Um…as usual I am speechless. Not sure how Boxycharm does this!

If you read my August unboxing, you’ll recall I was warning about customs. Some people are being charged roughly R167 on their Boxycharm. I myself have been charged R164 customs on my #MorpheMe brush subscription that costs $19,99. I may be calling it quits with these subscriptions soon, but I really want to get my hand on the Becca highlighter coming in next month’s box, so I’m going to push through for one more month.

As usual, Melanie and I synchronise our posts of our unboxings, just so you can see the variations and different first impressions. So please check her post out here.

Have you signed up? Have you been dealing with the frustration that is customs as well with your recent Boxycharm or any other makeup related orders?

PS Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for the Carli Bybel palette here.
