May Favourites!

image

So before I get into my first actual blog post, I thought I’d go into why I started this blog.

I’ve been a little make up obsessed the last few months, so much so that I’ve bluffed my friends into thinking that I know what I’m talking about. All my friends (yes, all 3 of them) were asking me to start a blog. Ladies….. you asked, so I hope ya’ll will be reading my nonsense on a daily-ish basis. I expect a ‘readership’ of at least 3…you know who I’m talking to 😉

So without further ado… I know it’s late, but here are some of the things I loved in May.

Make up

My most reached for eyeshadow palette last month was definitely my LA Girl Nude Palette. I was hoping to include swatches, but seriously, Rome wasn’t built in a day….It was enough that I tried to take semi decent pics ????

I just love how versatile this palette is. It’s perfect for day wear and a night on the town. If you’re a neutral ordinary gal like me, if you only own 1 palette, it should be this one.

There are some matte shades, shimmer shades and lovely dark shades for a smokey eye. Also the quality of this eyeshadow for the price is AMAZING!

To say I’m obsessed with the L’Oréal Superstar Red Carpet Black mascara is an understatement!! This mascara has 2 wands, number 1 is a white fibre that I swear is like magic. You apply a few strokes and you literally see it building lashes from nothing. At first I was worried it would look like I had tippex on my lashes….enter wand number 2. Wand number 2 is super black and adds this drama (who needs falsies? Not me….) and length and completely covers the white.

Ahhh what can I say about my ride or die, Dallas, by Benefit? *dreamy eyes* This is neither bronze nor pink, it’s just that perfect in between as a blush,  if like me, you feel bronze is too bronze,  and pink makes you look like La clown face. Sorry I really should have swatched this stuff. I’ll do that for a later post. Promise. I literally use this every single day.

Alongside it is my Colourpophighlighter in the shade ‘Lunch Money’. The texture of this firstly is out of this world. Soft and creamy. It gives a lovely fine shimmer that is buildable. No nasty big chunks of glitter or overdone shimmer in my opinion. Best application for this is with your finger or a synthetic brush. I’ve tried a fan brush, but prefer my finger.

This is technically not make up per se, but the Garnier Micellar Cleansing water is amazing for cleaning your make up off your face. It’s fragrance free and hypoallergenic. I always use this to get my mascara and make up off before I cleanse my face at night. I believe you don’t even need to cleanse your face after using it.

Hair

I have repurchased Aunt Jackie’s Knot on my watch about 3 times now. This stuff is like a knot destroyer for any of you with frizzy or knotty hair. I use this for my daughter as she has super long hair that knots really easily. You apply it after you wash, or as a daily sort of moisturiser for your hair….It doesn’t leave her hair feeling greasy at all. Only Clicks seems to stock this, and apparently it does sell out fast.

Yum yum

So I did warn you that I was obsessed with chocolate,  so this final item should not surprise you. Guys…have you tried this hot chocolate? Oh. My. Soul. It is THE best hot chocolate I’ve ever had! I can’t drink anything else….NOMU….my love…. perfect for these cold winter days were having…..

What are your current faves?

Okay so that’s it from me! If anybody read this, and you’ve made it all the way to the end of this absurdly long post…I thank you. If you’d like me to include where I’ve purchased the item please let me know….and/or any other suggestions for going forward.

I’m Simone, a mom of 3, a wife...obsessed with my family, makeup and books!
