Friday’s Yay or Nay?

So whether you thought this ‘series’ of posts was a good idea or not, you know, it’s my blog, so I don’t really care. I think it’s a good idea, so I’ll go with it. lol. Just kidding….I’m writing this in advance, so I really hope somebody thought this was a good idea…or I guess I’ll be trashing the 5 Friday posts I have lined up 🙁

Assuming the idea was well received, let’s get to this week’s pick…..

This week I’m talking about a super impulsive and expensive buy, it’s the Smashbox Always Sharp Clear Lip Liner.

WHAT IS IT?

Stop lipstick from stepping out of line with our new clear lip liner. Inspired and engineered to work with our new shades of Be Legendary lipstick. With a see-through finish, reds retain their vibrancy and pinks don’t lose their pop. Plus, a transparent lip liner is universal and works with every skin tone—and you can apply it without a mirror. This liner glides on easily to define lips and create a barrier that prevents lipstick from feathering and bleeding. Think of it as a fool-proof primer for your pout and the perfect partner for any lipstick in your makeup bag.

What attracted me to this liner:

  • It’s from Smashbox……<3
  • A clear liner is essentially a universal liner, so no more rummaging through 20 different pencils looking for the perfect liner.
  • It has a ‘twist and it’s sharp’ mechanism in the cap, so I thought that was pretty cool. You’d never need a sharpener again!
  • It had just come out, so I wanted to be ahead of the pack. You know, my pack of one.

Okay so what do I think? At R255 for a liner that, to me, doesn’t extend the wear of my lipstick, what do you think I think? I think I just tossed money down the drain. I never even reach for this lip liner. I choose to rummage through my 20 Essence lip pencils instead, that together cost me what this one liner cost me.

If I think of using it as a primer and a liner that prevents bleeding, then I think it’s fine, but definitely not a must have in your makeup bag, and definitely not for that price, so it’s a nay from me unfortunately.

Have you used this before? What’s your favourite lip liner?
