Chelsea Boutique Brow Kit {Review}
January 30, 2017
If there’s one thing you could not leave home without doing (in terms of your beauty game), what would it be? For me, it’s my brows. They are embarrassing, unruly and patchy! I usually travel with tinted brow gel and a spoolie in my bag for those days I’m rushing to the shop, so I can do my brows in the parking lot or at the till. Where ever….. Don’t judge me.
I’ve been trying to get my hands on a Benefit brow kit for ages now, but the brand is not available in Port Elizabeth and online (Red Square) when I tried to order, I got an error so never bothered again. When I saw this competition on Life Retreat for a brow kit from Chelsea Boutique, I was so excited, but didn’t think in a million years I’d win. So when I received the email notification about a week ago that I’d won, I was beyond ecstatic!
The package arrived on Friday afternoon and I was like a kid in a candy store. The packaging for this kit is so luxurious. The exterior is made of hard and sturdy cardboard, while inside, all the products are housed in this luxurious velvet sort of interior. Immediately I felt like: Simone, you’re in the big league with this kit! <3
The Kit contains:
-
6 Eyebrow Stencils
-
1 Duo Application Brush
-
1 Eyebrow Powder
-
1 Eyebrow Tweezers
-
1 Velvet Kit Case
-
A ‘how to apply’ guide
There are 7 shades to choose from, so there should be a shade for every gal! I chose the shade ‘Cappuccino’ after much deliberation and I’m happy to say that it matches me to a T. The formula of the powder is smooth and finely milled. I haven’t had any fallout when dipping the brush into the powder or on my actual eyes. A little of this product goes a LONG way. I literally just dab my brush in and that’s it. This after I took a nice sweep of product over the weekend and just applied…lesson learnt! lol.
I love good quality, easy brow products. Easy to apply, blend and even wipe away if you make a mistake. This ticks all the boxes.
The brush is quite nice. I assume I use the other end for eye shadow? Well that’s what I have been using it for and it picks up product nicely. I do wish that the other end was a spoolie. I see they do have a brush like that on the website though. The tweezers are AMAZING! I’m obsessed with my La Tweez tweezer, but this one from CB definitely is up high…maybe even better. It took all the stray hairs out on the first attempt. A really fabulous set of tweezers.
There’s a little guide on how to apply the powder and use the stencils. CB claims the powder is smudge proof and water resistant, as this is a semi permanent powder. I did find that my accidental dark brows on Saturday looked nice on Sunday as if the excess powder had washed away. I’m not sure how semi permanent the powder is supposed to be in terms of how long it lasts, but I personally have no issue with doing my brows daily. If I could skip a day or just add a brow mascara in the morning though, that would be great! I will report back on how long the powder lasts and how often I am touching up my brows and I’ll also include some before and after pictures.
Lastly there’s a gorgeous little velvet bag to store all the products in, which is great to just throw in your bag or for travelling. Add your brow gel and you don’t need anything else. There are also some lash products on their website, the mink lashes are to die for!! I’d also love to try their Brow Gel so may do an order for that in the near future.
Have you heard of this brand or tried it out?
Thanks again Life Retreat and Chelsea Boutique for a lovely prize!

I am always so skeptical of those brow kits. I find most people just donèt use them wholly. For me though, I never use brow powders, I love my pomades and pencils too much.

I’ve never used a pomade, so usually powder, MAC pencil and gel. Does the pomade eliminate the need for gel?

I’m a fan too! I’m currently picking it up in Dubai. If I should run out, or, heven forbid it should break in transit to CPT, where can I get it in the CBD?

The brow powder is lovely. I love it! There’s a local website for them to purchase on: https://www.chelseabeautique.co.za/
What did you get? Dubai….you must be having fun shopping!

I got the Capuccino too! It suits the coloured girl skin tone best.
After 13 years I don’t see the shops anymore. I love the UAE for so much more!
