Let’s glow girl!

It’s become quite obvious that the highlighting trend is going absolutely NOWHERE!

Highlighters have become a staple for everybody since Kim K changed the makeup game with her highlighting and contouring back in 2012. Though mind you I only found out about highlighting in 2014…2015? Late bloomer is too kind of a term for me and my makeup discovery, but moving along….so a few new highlighting palettes have hit or will hit our faces soon and many of us will be spending hundreds of rands/dollars to add yet ANOTHER highlighting palette to our collection, because you know…we can never own enough highlighters.

I thought I’d give you all a rundown of the ones that have caught my eye 😉

BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette 

This consists of 2 Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlights, one being a new shade called ‘Beach Nectar’. There’s also a Luminous Blush in the shade ‘Hibiscus Bloom’ and a Sunlit Bronzer in the shade ‘Malibu Soleil’. All are new with the exception of the highlight in the shade ‘Rose Gold’. This palette will be released in early May and I see it will retail for $46 on the Becca website.

I haven’t seen any swatches yet, but I love the look of the bronzer. It doesn’t look too warm or too ashy so I’m interested to see this on the skin. The ‘Beach Nectar’ highlighter I am also digging just on appearances alone. I think this is an interesting palette, but the reviews will be rolling in soon I’m sure and then I’ll decide if this goes onto my wishlist or not.

Huda 3D Highlighter Palettes

The Huda palettes actually launched yesterday I believe and they come in 2 shades, one called ‘Pink Sands‘ for fair to medium skin tones and a second palette called ‘Golden Sands‘ for medium to darker skin tones. Huda claims that what makes these so different is that they are infused with Shea butter so the oils allow for a more luminous and natural glow.

Also, there’s a unique layering system and guide for applying this and the information is provided for each shade of the palette, so that’s quite interesting. I think one has to be thinking out of the box to make your highlighter attract a crowd these days, so this is definitely an interesting angle. I watched a video on this and I noticed this highlight does not sit on top of the skin. It was actually very glowy and pretty in a more natural way.

These are retailing for $45 on the Huda website.

I know the reviews for the Rose Gold palette were very mixed and varied, so this is another one I’ll be waiting on reviews for.

NARS Banc De Sable Highlighter Palette

When applied wet, these highlighters work with the skin’s surface to create a supernatural glow. The three shades are designed to layer endlessly and illuminate all skin tones. They can be applied dry for a shimmering veil of second-skin color, or wet for a high-impact glow that instantly blends into skin. They can be worn alone or layered—on the face or eyes to enhance your natural features.

This palette contains:
– 3 x 0.11 oz/ 3.4 g Highlighter in Rivage (glistening pearl), Salé (shimmering peach champagne), Embruns (metallic rose gold)

This is a limited edition palette and retails for $49 at Sephora. I think this is stunning! The embossing on the actual product is gorgeous. I’ve watched and read some reviews and this does seem to be quite a metallic intense sort of highlight.

I wish Sephora would ship internationally or even just to Aramex 🙁

I think I’m leaning towards the BECCA palette more due to the inclusion of the bronzer. Obviously this also depends if I’m able to get a buyer for my one of my kidneys, because the heart is willing, but the wallet laughs at me.
