{Review} The Body Shop

I’ve always been a fan of the Body shop’s body butters and scrubs, but other than that I’ve never really purchased much at the store. About 2 months ago I popped into the store and they were having a promotion on so I decided to pick up the Vitamin C liquid Peel and the Camomile Cleansing Oil.

The Vitamin C Glow Revealing Liquid Peel (RSP R170) specifically targets pollutants that are left sitting on the skin at the end of the day. Transforming gel-to-peel technology traps and gently peels off impurities and dead skin cells to unveil healthy-looking skin

  • This transforming gel-to-peel texture peels away dull, tired skin for a happy healthy glow
  • The PH of the gel helps to release surface cells
  • Contains our most potent Camu Camu Berry

This has a runny gel consistency and you apply it to the skin and massage it into the skin for about 20 seconds. I put it onto a cotton pad, then onto my skin and I massage it, as I felt the fluid was really tacky and sticky on my hands where I pumped it in the first place. As you massage you’ll find that you start feeling little bits of skin sloughing off the surface, which may seem a bit strange at first…like am I going to look like Freddy Kruger after this???? I assure you, your skin will still be very much intact. lol.

My skin feels as smooth as a baby’s bottom after using this and I really feel that it releases a ‘glow’ for my skin that lasts a good 2 or 3 days.

A suggestion would just be to apply and massage in sections. Do cheeks, massage, then apply to nose and massage, etc.

The 2nd thing I picked up is the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil (RSP R190). I have previously used the Dermalogica pre-cleanse and I thought it was amazing, but not quite in my budget, so I was hoping this was a similar product.

This oil feels like oil when you initially put it on your skin (but not like canola oil). I put it onto a cotton round and then wipe away all my makeup. It does a really good job in removing makeup and especially mascara. Also it leaves my skin feeling like it’s having a moisurising treatment before I wash my face. I personally can’t just use this and that’s it, as I feel I do still need wash my face afterwards to get the oily residue off. After a cleanse my skin feels really soft and moisturised and I think that’s due to the cleansing oil.

There is a con to this product though in that I HATE the dispenser. To get it onto my cotton round is a nightmare as it’s a pump dispenser so the oil goes all over. I find it best to do this at a basin and not sitting on my bed or I’ll have it on my duvet or my clothes. That aside though, it’s a terrific product.

This picture was never meant to be posted on the blog, so forgive the bad quality, but I also purchased this shaving brush (RSP R135) and the Maca Root Shave cream (RSP R155) for my husband.  He absolutely LOVES it! He says a little goes a long way and he loves the brush to apply the cream. My husband needs to shave almost daily so he is very prone to razor burn and skin irritations and he finds this shaving cream to be really soothing for his sensitive skin. So I’d definitely recommend that next time you head to the body shop for yourself, pop one of these into the basket so they can also feel pampered….and to absolve you of any guilt in overspending. 😉

The Body Shop just launched the Drops of Light range that also includes a liquid peel, so I’d love to try that one as well. Have you tried any of their peels before? Are there any products from The Body Shop that you’re obsessed with that I have to try?
