April favourites!
It’s the 2nd of May….how is that even possible? The year is flying by and before we know it, it’ll be Christmas! Scary stuff!
When selecting my April faves, I found it so hard to limit myself to 5 or 6 items 🙁 Imagine how long these posts would be? When I had a calm moment over the long weekend, I managed to dig deep and narrow down my faves and ta da…… here they are!
Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder (Discontinued)
My loose powder has been annoying me lately and it’s a mission when you’re doing makeup in the car and especially when wearing a black top. POOF…powder all over! So after not touching this powder for easily a year, I grabbed it on a whim to set my undereye concealer and the oily parts of my face and I fell in love.
I found my undereye area didn’t crease really when using this. Also, it has an almost yellow undertone so on no makeup days, I stipple this into my skin and I find it neutralises redness I usually have on my cheeks. This is almost like a transluscent powder on me, so doesn’t do much in terms of coverage…which led me to the Smashbox counter last week to try out a shade darker and I was then told they don’t make this specific powder anymore. Boo hoo…. But alas…all is not lost, as I then tested out the Photo Filter Powder foundation and I thought it was divine! I plan to purchase it once I have the funds.
NYX highlight and contour palette (RSP R394)
I’ve been grabbing this palette a lot during the last few weeks. I find now that I’m a bit paler due to the cooler weather, I definitely need some bronzing up. I love mixing the lower left 2 shades together to do some slight warming up along the perimeters of my face. Also, I forgot how beautiful these highlighters are. The powders are really soft so there’s a bit of kick up when you go in with a brush, but they blend really well into the skin, leaving me with a very natural glow. The highlighters are also buildable if you want a more intense glow. This is going to be a staple in winter!
Morphe M521 Chisel Oval Shader Brush
I received this brush as part of my MorpheMe brush subscription and I must say I’m obsessed with it. It picks up my matte eyeshadows and my shimmers. I used to find some shimmers I could only use my fingers on them, but now that I have this brush, it easily picks up all shadows I have used it on. Also a little goes a long way and it blends like a dream.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette (RSP $49 / R1200 )
Due to the Morphe M521 above, this palette has been my go to palette this month. I always had to use my fingers for these shimmer shades and for some reason that annoys me, so I stopped using it. What a problem to have right? lol. The M521 plus this palette has been my obsession this month and I’ve rediscovered my love for this palette
I love to pop ‘Salted caramel‘ into the crease with ‘Marzipan‘ on the eyelid Champagne truffle is the most gorgeous soft pink browbone highlight.
Sephora Sheet masks (RSP R400)
These Sephora sheet masks have been amazing and I’m so sad that I only have 1 left. I have to repurchase these.
Rose mask – The mask smells amazing, like a field of roses, but not overpowering. I suffer with hayfever so anything I put on my face can cause me to go into a fit of sneezing, and none of these masks did that. My pores seemed reduced after using this mask.
Pomegranate mask – This one was my favourite. The scent was also lovely and not overpowering. My skin was so glowy and smooth, also my pores appeared reduced/non existent for at least 4 days after using this mask.
Avocado mask – The mask left my face feeling sticky, which the others didn’t do. My under eye area seemed really hydrated after this mask, so I guess I didn’t mind the stickiness.
The Algae mask I gifted to my sister and the Orchid mask was okay. I didn’t make any notes so I cannot provide much feedback on that one. The Lotus mask is the last one I have left and I’ll be treating my skin to that one tonight EyeSeeHue Makeup.
Oh So Heavenly Coconut Crush Hand lotion (Appears to be discontinued)
I’ve got a major thing for coconut scented items and when I saw this on sale at Clicks, I popped it into my cart and it’s divine. The cream has a lovely consistency, not too thick, but not runny either and it doesn’t leave my skin greasy. Again I do not like overpowering scents and this ticks that box, but it doesn’t really smell like coconut which I was disappointed about. The fruity and floral top notes kind of overpower the coconut scent, but it’s a lovely scent nonetheless.
Nescafe Coconut Latte (RSP R39,99 for 8 sachets at Spar)
When winter approaches, I love finding a drink that will provide me with some comfort and warmth when I need it. When I spotted the new offerings from Nescafe…with coconut…I don’t need to explain myself. HAD. TO. HAVE. IT. Finished and klaar! I’m always hesitant to buy these sachet products because they are usually sweetened and also don’t really pack a punch in terms of the actual coffee flavour, so I was skeptical about this. Needless to say, it appears in my faves, so it definitely was a winner!
I didn’t find it too sweet at all and also I could taste the coffee flavour along with the subtle coconut flavour. It’s really divine, it froths nicely, so I can’t wait to try some of the other flavours.
That’s it gals! What have you been loving in April?

I love the colours in the Nyx Contour and Highlight as well as the Two Faced Palette. Looks like someone has a coconut obsession but I totally understand…it has a lovely scent.

The NYX palette is really good. I initially thought a bit pricey for ‘drugstore’, but I’m glad I got it. Lol…and yes, even coconut milk…anything coconut <3

I just bought the chocolate bar palette and it is the love of my life! Just worried salted caramel will most likely hit pan before any other colour. I bought some sigma brushes too, not morphe but similar rating I think! Exciting stuff!

I know…I start every single look with Salted Caramel. Some days I think, let me try something else…nope…salted caramel. he he. Hope you’ll post some of the looks you’ll create!
I’d love to own Sigma brushes, but it’s just too pricey to get here in South Africa 🙁

I just purchased my first Too Faced Palette. It’s the one for natural eyes. I am obsessed! So I’m sure I won’t be able to live without that chocolate one! The pigmentation in the palette I have is near perfect!
