Mother’s day gift guide

Tis the season to be jolly….tra la la la…..Oh sorry, wrong ‘holiday’.

I don’t know about you, but mother’s day for me is usually NOT fun. I end up stressing more than anything. How to make sure my mom has a good day, how to include my mother in law without messing up any plans her kids may have for her, and this year I add to the mix the fact that my sister is a first time mom…..so in the end there’s very little relaxing or thought for my own celebration of mother’s day. After the weekend I usually vow that next year I’m going to the Spur  Ocean Basket by myself…or maybe I’ll take one of my kids…whichever one is my favourite on that particular day. I still have absolutely no idea what the plan is for next weekend…an obligatory Whatsapp family group has not yet been created for the event, so we’ll see what happens.

Okay so one thing I do like about mother’s day are the GIFTS! I mean who doesn’t love hand made cards from the kids and designer bags <3 Also Addison can actually make coffee now…so easy thanks to our trusty Nespresso machine, so I can look forward to a premium beverage to start my day 😉 Premium beverages aside….I thought I’d do a round up of a few items I would not mind receiving for mother’s day…and perhaps there’s something here you may want to get for your own mom or screenshot it for your husband to ‘let the kids get it for you’.

Yuppiechef gift boxes

I received a newsletter from Yuppiechef the other day with a link to these giftboxes, so being the online shopping ho that I am, I clicked on it. I saw one that was PERFECT for my mom and I ordered it. It will probably arrive today so it will be a mission to hide it from her (seeing as she’ll probably sign for the delivery) until next weekend, but I think she’s going to love it.

Yuppiechefg

  • I love that the range starts from R199 and goes all the way up to over R1000, so it suits everybody’s budget.
  • Free delivery over R300.
  • There’s such a wide variety with these gift boxes. There’s something for the tea lover, coffee lover, sweet lover, gardening lover, beer lover….etc,

You can shop them here.

Le Creuset bakeware

I used to have an addiction problem when it came to Le Creuset. I was literally spending half my salary on Le Creuset every month, until my husband put an end to that due to us running out of cupboard space from all my purchases.  I just love the rainbow colours and I feel that the quality of their products are unsurpassed.

In December I went shopping for an oven roaster as a gift for a friend and I knew just where to find the perfect one. However, when I had it in my hands, I knew I needed one myself. I’m obsessed with the oven roaster. Literally nothing sticks to the bottom! I was so impressed with the roaster that recently, I also added the Square Cake Tin to my collection. So if you or your mom are into baking, you may want to check out the rest of the non stick bakeware range, as there are currently a few mother’s day promotions running.

Typo scented candles

I’ve never been into scented candles…or candles period. Maybe it’s my age, but recently I’ve been drawn to them. When I’m busy cleaning my makeup area (yes that’s a thing), I love lighting a candle to scent up the room and create a calming atmosphere while I go about it….well that is until 1 of my 3 kids decide I actually lit it as a challenge for them to keep blowing out…or to argue about who will be blowing it out…and then I wish I never lit the darn candle to begin with….

Okay…sorry…calm..zen…  I bought a candle from Typo in December and I love it. It’s embossed with gold writing and the smell is just so divine. It’s got a fruity scent, but not fake or overpowering. If you have any other amazing candle brands for me to try, please let me know in the comments below.

Levitech phone accessories

I have been obsessed with these fluffy phone covers from Levitech ever since I saw them on Instagram last year. Once I went onto the site, I realised there were quite a few items I wanted. These are my top 4 picks:

  1. The Glitter Waterfall Case
  2. A Unicorn Powerbank <3 <3
  3. Marble Grip iRing Holder (I’m hoping this isn’t limited to just use with an iPhone)
  4. The Cozy Fur phone case

How cute are all these goodies? Check the website over here for more super cool phone accessories.

Woolworths

Woolworths currently has a beauty festival going on, where you can buy any 2 beauty products and you save up to 25% on the purchase. I have asked Addison to please hint to dad that mommy really NEEDS a few items from Smashbox.

The Cover Shot palette called ‘Ablaze’ has my heart ABLAZE for it <3 Look at those colours <3 <3  They just scream autumn/winter to me…this palette haunts my souls…and will continue to haunt it, until I own it. lol. I was also really impressed with the Photo Filter Powder Foundation, so I’d love to try that out too. I’m in shade number 5 babes…if you’re reading 😉

That’s a wrap for my mother’s day gift ideas. I had to cut myself off at 5 or I’d never stop. Let me know in the comments if there’s anything that catches your eye, or even your ideas for great mother’s day gifts 😉

I’m Simone, a mom of 3, a wife...obsessed with my family, makeup and books!
