Father’s day gift guide {2017 Edition}
I still can’t believe that it’s June…it’s freakin June! We’ll be putting up the Christmas tree before we know it…..anyways, moving along….
On the 18th of June we are celebrating the awesome dads in our lives, and I thought I’d compile a list of some of the goodies that I know my husband would love to receive, even though he insists we should not get him anything. Me thinks that thou dost protest too much mister 😉
My husband was positively drooling when we walked passed this jacket in Woolworths a few weeks ago. He even went so far as to fit it on, but when he saw the price tag…he grumbled something about ‘not needing a jacket’. Men and this need thing?? Hello…we don’t buy things because we need it…we buy because we want..right gals? Like I need another eyeshadow palette…..ha ha Sorry, I’m off topic.
Pack a dapper style punch in this leather look biker jacket, featuring quilted insets and slight distressing for a lived-in look.
- outer: 100% polyurethane
- long sleeves
- popper-button at the neck
- zip closure
- 2 pockets

You can find this jacket here and it retails for R1200.
I saw these Adidas sneakers on the Superbalist website and I literally did a double take. I just think they’re super cool and I love the style. I sent my husband a screenshot and he was as smitten as I was. I was looking for something similar in the ladies section, but I’ll add that to my next wishlist if I discover a ladies pair. *wink wink hubby* (So sweet, I saw a recent subscriber to my blog was my husband! I almost melted…isn’t he the best?? We will forgive him though and avoid the obvious question…what took him so long??)
These retail for R1999 and you can find them here. I think Superbalist has a promo where your first purchase on their app gets you 25% off, so something to keep in mind if you’ve never shopped with them before 😉
My husband has very sensitive skin, and added to that, he has to shave almost every single day, which can wreak havoc on his skin if he’s using the wrong products. We discovered the L’occitan Shaving gel a while back and it’s something he has continued to repurchase. It smells amazing, very fresh and manly, and he has no skin irritations using this. The shaving gel on it’s own retails for R250, but there are various gift sets and also mini discovery sets that hubby will enjoy as he gets to test out different products. The discovery gift set above retails for R390 and you can find the details here on the L’Occitane website.
Another favourite of his for his shaving is from The Body Shop. He is obsessed with the Maca Root Shave Cream and he also likes the shaving brush. I think it makes him feel like an old school gent using the brush. This is a real value for money set that includes the brush, the shaving cream, the razor relief and a toiletry bag for R425.
My husband…the love of my life…my soulmate…can work on my last damn nerve sometimes. Especially when he decides at 10pm that he has a 2nd wind (after he collapses and falls asleep standing up at 8pm) and wants to watch some series. I’m not sure if he has memory loss and forgets that the toddler will be waking us up in a few hours…or maybe even minutes. Anyways…..so he’ll decide he needs to watch something with gladiator type fighting or in the hood shooting scenes, you know…the loudest thing he can possibly find to watch. I then start swearing and threatening divorce and he starts the frantic search for earphones. I think these headphones from Takealot would be perfect for those nights.
Volkano Impulse Series Bluetooth Headphones – Black
– Bluetooth Wireless Headphones
– Walk and Talk feature with a Micro SD Card Reader, Line-in Mode and FM Radio
They retail for R289 and you can find them here.
Something I personally love, is a personalised phone cover. Whether for dad or granddad, I think these make lovely sentimental gifts that they can carry around with them everyday <3 You can do these through online websites like Printstagram and I believe they are currently running a 50% off promotion for father’s day. They range from R249 to R499.
I also recently did a post with gift ideas from from Typo for dad that you can check out here. If all else fails…BILTONG BASKETS! I know that’s one gift my husband never gets sick of…biltong…and socks. lol
What nifty gift ideas do you have for dad this father’s day?

Some great ideas, I need to get something sorted ASAP this weekend I feel like I’ve left it for last minute ????
An Ordinary Gal
I haven’t even gotten anything yet. Really wanted to surprise him with the jacket, but eeekk…finances. Will probably end up being biltong. lol
Desert Missus
I can’t get over how absurdly expensive things are in SA! The same shaving kit at L’Occitane retails for 25 dirhams! That’s about 100 ZAR. Those sneakers? Maybe 300 dirhams. Wow!????
But thanks for a great selection. I was wondering what to get him this year. He would lurve a the Biltong basket! Also happens to be absurdly expensive here!????
An Ordinary Gal
Oh wow…R100??? Bloody hell. Makes me so sad how expensive things are here in SA….we’re feeling the pinch!
So you can buy him some L’occitane then seeing as the biltong is too pricey. lol
Desert Missus
He’s an Old Spice man.???? I’ve tried Tom Ford, Gucci and L’Occitane. It will grow hairs because he doesn’t use it…”smells funny”???? But I’ll have to search long and hard for that Biltong basket.
