My Ultimate Top 10 Makeup Products

I saw a post about this on a beauty group that I’m on, where everybody shared their top 10 most purchased makeup products and I thought: Heck ya’ll, this would make a great blog post! (I totally said that in a southern accent ya’ll ). Putting together my ULTIMATE top 10, the products I have repurchased and that I would repurchase over and over was fun.

I hope you spot some of your favourites, or perhaps you see something that may get your attention and it may end up on your ultimate top 10 list šŸ˜‰ I’m going to go in order of how I apply my makeup….as I think that would make the most sense. Also I’m not going to make this a full-blown review, as it may get way too long, but if you have any questions, feel free to email me or ask in the comments below.

Primer – Benefit’s The Porefessional Balm

Quickly minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. The translucent formula contains a vitamin E derivative known to protect skin from free radicals.

  • Oil-free
  • Complements all skintones
  • Helps makeup stay put

I have repurchased this about 4 times I think. This stuff is non-greasy and I find it does the BEST job of minimising the appearance of my pores. When I know I want my makeup to look flawless, this is the stuff that I grab to get the party started.

Foundation – L’Oreal Infallible 24hr matte foundation

A matte result that lasts up to 24 hours. Clinically proven; waterproof, steamproof. All the comfort, none of the shine. Perfect coverage. No Cakey effect. Easy to apply, enriched with perlite technology, and reduces the appearance of shine up to 24 hours.

I’m not sure if I believe it’s waterproof and steamproof, but I don’t care. I love it that much. I ALWAYS get compliments when I wear this foundation and in fact, people think I’m not wearing foundation and that my skin just looks good. It is a medium coverage foundation on my skin (with a damp sponge), so I don’t have that full makeup look, which I love. Also it doesn’t get or look cakey.

I thought that I could not wear this foundation in Winter, as my skin is usually drier, but I’ve focused on hydration and moisturising my skin and I had no problem with wearing this from Summer all through Winter. I have repurchased this foundation 3 or 4 times.

Concealer – LA Girl Pro HD concealerĀ

This concealer needs no introduction. It’s a cult favourite around the world. The LA Girl concealer is super affordable and does a pretty good job. There are a gazillion shades and colour correctors. You can’t go wrong with these concealers.

Contour – NYX Contour and Highlight paletteĀ

This palette consists of 8 shades, 4 being your contour and bronzer shades and the other 4 being highlighting shades. 2 of the highlight shades are shimmer and the other 2 are matte (1 being a banana powder). This palette is my everything. If I forget a setting powder at home (I do my makeup in the car sometimes), I use the matte powders to set my foundation and concealer. I use the bronzer as eyeshadow in the crease and the highlight on my lid. This palette is so versatile and I have barely made a dent in it, despite using it every single time I do my makeup.

Eyeshadow Primer – Essence eyeshadow baseĀ

I find this is affordable and it does the job. I did a post comparing it to the Benefit’s ‘Stay don’t stray’ and I really think it held its own. You can check the comparison post here for a full review.

Blush – Benefit’s DallasĀ

Give your complexion a natural-looking glow that will have you appearing younger & more vibrant. This sheer wash of color dusted across your cheeks, forehead and chin gives any complexion a sunkissed radiance… it’s a glow that defies even Mother Nature.

  • Blush & bronzer in one
  • Flatters all skin tones
  • Includes soft, natural-bristle brush

This blush is everything to me. I love that it’s not too bronze and not too pink. I have a phobia of pink blushes and looking like a rosey faced clown. With the Dallas powder, I never have this concern. It’s universal and I feel goes with any makeup look that I do. I have used this for probably well over a year and despite Adam half destroying it, I still have quite a bit left.

Mascara – Benefit’s Roller LashĀ

Okay I’m starting to sound like a Benefit marketer! lol. I have repurchased this mascara at least 4 or 5 times as well. The formula is so lightweight and the bristles on the wand curl and seperate every single lash. This formula also never gets clumpy, no matter how many coats I put on. I never have any flaking or transfer issues when wearing this. This is a reliable mascara and for me, it’s a must have in my collection.

I must add I have just recently picked up the L’Oreal Telescopic lash mascara and I am loving it…..it may just become a firm favourite, but I just need to test it out a bit more.Ā

Highlight – OFRA’s RodeoĀ DriveĀ

I was fortunate enough to get this highlighter in a previous Boxycharm. I don’t know if I ever would have spent so much money on a highlighter. If I can’t get it on credit at Edgars/Red Square, then I avoid the higher end stuff. ha ha. #TrueStory Gals….this highlight is so beautiful and I find myself trawling the Ofra Instagram page waiting for their next sale! They had a 40% off sale recently, so I am really hoping that happens again so I can purchase another one of these as a backup. One that Adam will never find! Cause you know what he did to this one……

I would have had the Essence Merry Berry highlighter in here if it wasn’t a limited edition item. This highlighter is so beautiful and for the price? I wish I had bought 10!Ā

Lips – Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss

I’m keeping it simple on the lips. I have been crazy about the Peach Baby lips for a long time. I love the glossy non-sticky sheen it gives to my lips, with just a subtle hint of peachy pink. This lip balm is used on no makeup days and even with makeup. It’s versatile and I love having one everywhere. Though, truth be told…I bought about 3 and I can never find 1 of them when I’m looking for them. lol. I definitely need to go and buy 3 more…to never find again. Urgh.

Setting Spray – Me and Youth Setting SprayĀ

I’m not super clued up on setting spray for some reason. Okay I know that I really didn’t like the L’Oreal Infallible one for some reason, but I think I wasn’t shaking it enough and I gave that one to my sister.

I find that my makeup for the most part, looks the same all day. In the evening my eyeshadow still looks good, my highlight is still there. Nothing has slid off my face. So either makeup setting spray is a farce, or I have only purchased the good ones? Ā The Me & Youth I have repurchased 3 times. I do feel it’s a bit pricey, but I usually pick it up when it’s on special so that helps. This really refreshes my skin and I do feel it blends all my makeup together to give it a more seamless look. If I have to grab one, this is usually my go-too.

I am DYING to try the Urban Decay All nighter setting spray next though.

Wow, this was a long post…. Let me know in the comment below what your top 10 would be! Also would you want to see a top 10 in skin and hair care products as well?
