Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation {Review}

My husband was saying that I looked so pretty a few days ago…I don’t usually take him seriously, because he says that when I’m NOT wearing makeup as well. I know…he needs his eyes checked….moving along…..  On the day in question, I was however wearing my new Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation. Maybe she’s born with it….maybe it’s Maybelline 😉 Sadly…I was not born with it!

I have been eyeing this foundation for a VERY long time. Seeing the YouTubers rave about it, gave me a major case of the FOMO! I don’t get excited about high-end foundation, because realistically, I cannot afford it. Also, after using my ride or die drugstore foundation for years now, I don’t feel like I’m missing out. Of course I’d love to try everything, but I’m a mom, wife…I’m not about that splurge life. Why are you laughing? I’ve changed my ways 😉 Affordable drugstore foundations though, get me really excited! Think LA Girl, Milani, and my ride or die from L’Oreal. Depending on your skin type, any one of these 3 are great foundations.

I have been chatting back and forth to my friend, Yolanda, over at Slay Uniqueness, about her shade selection on the Fit Me foundation, because we seem to be similar shades. I may be a smidgen darker. So she got the shade 228, but she felt it was a bit too warm for her. She then swatched a few other shades….and we were stumped…they all didn’t seem to be ‘our’ shade. I walked into Clicks in Milnerton and I decided to just avoid every shade she had swatched…and 220 seemed like THE ONE to me. Thanks very unhelpful cosmetics sales lady at Clicks by the way!

What is it?

This lightweight foundation mattifies and refines pores and leaves a natural, seamless finish.

What does it claim to do?

It’s ideal for normal to oily skin, our exclusive matte foundation formula features micro-powders to control shine and blur pores. Pore minimizing foundation. Dermatologist tested. Allergy tested. Non-comedogenic.

What do I think?

The foundation has a very runny consistency, so I dab it directly onto my sponge so I don’t waste anything. I applied this with a brush and with a sponge on different occasions. With a sponge I got a more sheer finish, whereas with a brush, a bit more cover. That being said, I got a medium coverage both ways.

The finish definitely feels ‘powdery’ to me, but not in a cakey powdery way if that makes sense? It’s different, but it feels nice and light weight on the skin. This definitely gave me a beautiful coverage and I felt it blurred my pores. I thought my skin looked pretty flawless. It also didn’t cling to any dry patches, even though I felt my skin was quite dry when I tested it out.

I wore this for probably a full 10-12 hours and I thought it held up really well. There was no creasing or seperating. On a normal work day, with 8hrs of wear I thought my foundation looked pretty good on the way home. I had slight shine (not grease) on my forehead, but nowhere else. Everywhere else was still looking good in my opinion.

The only issue I had was that I felt with the brush application, the foundation seemed to oxidise slowly during the day. With the sponge, not so much. I’m going to test it some more and let you know, but overall, I LOVE this foundation. I will definitely repurchase and I think it’s great value for money! I see why it’s raved about.

Pricing

The foundation retails for R99 for 30mls. I don’t know that you can get a better deal than that anywhere for this quality! It’s sold at various retailers, including Dischem, Clicks, Foschini and Zando.

This foundation is currently available in 14 shades, so I hope that covers our rainbow nation here in South Africa! If you haven’t tried it, I would definitely suggest you give it a try. I don’t think you’ll be sorry.

Have you tried this foundation yet? If so, let me know what you thought about it.

so glad you reviewed this my friend. really.
I went to Baywest and greenacres clicks stores when Fit Me just hit their shelves and sadly both stores did not have testers available at the time.
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect shade for the past 3 motnhs now… Inglot no longer makes he sahde i used to use and after trying their HD and YSM shades i didnt find a match. then there’s Revlon, Loreal, Nyx, Elizabeth arden, Smashbox, some left that cakey look which isnt cool of caus. .. well basically a dozen brands and shades later i still havent found one. I ended up having to build up my BB cream for a wedding I attended in Jozi last month (cant look face LOL).
I also have an oily comibination skin and I have recently noticed my pores have become enlarged, so this foundation sounds like the one for me too.
so lets just say I will be going to any of the stores stocking this until I find my shade.. surely out of the 14 I’m bound to find my FIT lol
    mwah.. loved this post

Shame Donna…the struggle is real when searching for your ride or die foundation!

This is currently on special for R59 on Zando, so check them out.

PS isn’t it awful how we had no issues with our pores until we started wearing makeup and now we’re like..was this always like this???? lol

Yay! Featured!!! Because my mission continues. I still don’t know if I should purchase this one, 220 still seems a tad bit too warm but I see you mentioned that it oxidises a little when applied with a brush but not so much with a sponge, so maybe I could try it with a sponge and see how that works out? Sounds like a lovely foundation. I recall the first day you tested it because I got the very first “first impressions”. VIP BABY! Greeat post babes!!

I’ve tried it out my shade is 330 i think well that’s what the lady at foschini said in any case the woman didn’t even realize it had the color on the back which was toffee. I also felt it oxidized and its a tad bit dark . But im not too concerned about it because it’s giving me a more tanned look as i am going to get a tan soon. So it will blend in perfectly . I’m using this because its a good everyday foundation and its affordable compared to my normal foundation . I’m not getting oily or anything maybe because im using baby skin primer too So far so good hey.

I do think they can work on the shade range a bit still. Too many gaps in my opinion. It’s great though….hope you manage to get your shade!

      Thanks for reading hun. xxxx

I LOVED this foundation! It works so well for me! Agree on the difficulty finding the correct shade – it’s quite a mission. I have to mix two shades to get my perfect shade. I don’t mind though as it is so good and affordable too.

Nice still need to try this. I tend to go for foundations with med to full coverage. ????
Hopefully they have my shade as Im so pale as a ????.????????????. Or when I buy they are ither to pink, to orange or totaly oxidizes. Then I just mix them or keep them for summer????

    • Simone

I’m more a medium coverage girl, though I do think I am on the hunt for a full coverage foundation.

I have same problem with the pink or orange. We must have similar undertones. Definitely go and test it out 😉

So I finally got this foundation… however… the shade 330 toffee was not for me.as I thought it was.. So I’m sitting with a tube of only used once.
When you walk into the office and my very straight forward colleagues ask why my face looks so yellow was enough to tell me this was not my shade.
I also found that my pores looked very enlarged…
It’s too light for me so I may get the shade 332 which is golden caramel.
Well I still didn’t find my FIT it seems but I will continue to search lol

    • Simone

Did you use a pore filling primer with it?

If you have any light foundations you can try to mix it…or go and ask for a sample of a light foundation somewhere and use that as a mixer. he he

Ahh thank you for this! This foundation has been on sale on Superbalist for weeks now! I think it’s R65 at the moment. But with my limited knowledge about these things I wasn’t sure if the low price meant it’s crap or if it’s a bargain. Also this whole situation with finding the right shade is a problem for me. I need profeshinaaaaal help! You and Yolanda (imagine I called her Landi hahahahahah would she mind lol!) are really helping a woman out with these posts man!
