The Clarisonic Mia 2 {Review}
Hello Miss Clarisonic Mia 2!!! Welcome to my life <3 I feel like I get way too excited about makeup and skincare products. When I start my posts all I was to do is type ‘EEEEEKKKKKK LOOK WHAT I GOT!!! #Whoop #SoBlessed #LoveLivesHere !!!!’ So professional sounding right? Gals….the Clarisonic Mia 2 though, deserves 17 rows of ‘EEEK’. That would be the review. Finished and Klaar. You’d then all know that you needed one and you’d rush out to buy it. Right?
Okay….maybe not.
Let’s do this the proper way! I first spotted this on Pink Peonies Blog a few years back. I thought to myself, really Luzanne, a face brush costing thousands? Nope…I’ll get me some good foundation and I’m good to go. I never forgot about the Clarisonic, but it was way out of my price range…and all I needed was makeup. Right? Skin care and worries was for somebody way way older than I am. *gulp* In recent months though, this device has popped up time and time again on a YouTube channel that I love…..by Tati, the Glamlife Guru. Tati cannot shut up about the Clarisonic. Clarisonic this, Clarisonic that…. I was brainwashed I guess into thinking…Simone, maybe you too need a Clarisonic! I see what you did there Tati….. 😉
Long story short, hubby planned to buy it for my birthday. I planned to buy it for my birthday. We used his money, and my knowledge of online shopping discounts to score one at 33% off from Clarisonic. We ordered and I literally had it in my hands within 24hrs.
What is a Clarisonic?
A Clarisonic is a range of facial brushes that introduces the ‘Sonic Method’. The Sonic Method is a combination of patented sonic devices clinically proven to amplify results of both professional treatments and daily skincare regimens for beautiful skin transformation.
Sonic Cleansing is 6x better than manual cleansing alone, consequently enhancing the absorption of skin care products. How? One clinical study* proved that sonically cleansed skin showed a 61% better treatment absorption rate than the skin that was manually cleansed.
At the same time, the Opal Infusion System utilizes gentle sonic micro massage movements to help anti-aging actives absorb beneath the skin’s surface to hydrate and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Packaging
I received the Clarisonic, along with a charger, a travel case and a sample of the Clarisonic gel cleanser. The charger connects to the Clarisonic magnetically, which I think is so cool! This allows the Clarisonic to be waterproof and use-able in the shower, without worrying about the charging connection getting wet.
With the promotion being on, I also ordered a spare brush head. The Clarisonic comes with a 2yr warranty.
Pricing
The Mia 2 retails for R2700 without any discount.
My opinion
The Clarisonic is really easy to use and the handle is quite comfortable. It fits into your hand easily and I find you’re able to move around the face without any problem. Charging it was a breeze with the magnetic charger attached, and once fully charged, the light around the buttons will not flash anymore.
I personally prefer putting the cleanser onto my face and then wetting the brush and cleansing that way. I’m sure that you can put the cleanser on the actual brush as well and use it like that.
A feature of the Mia 2 is that the device beeps indicating that you need to move onto the next part of your face. In total, the cleansing time is 60 seconds. 20 seconds on your forehead, 20 seconds between your nose and chin, and then 10 seconds for each cheek. The device will turn off after 60 seconds, though you’re obviously able to put it back on for another 60 seconds. That’s a cool feature I think.
After 1 use I felt the difference. My skin felt AMAZING! It felt so soft and smooth. All I wanted to do, was use it again, so I just basically spent a whole day waiting for night-time to come. I swear I was ready for my night routine at 4:30pm….just so I could wash my face. lol.
I had bronchitis when my Clarisonic Mia 2 arrived and had been through 3 rolls of toilet paper. The skin around my nose was so hard and rough due to the excessive nose blowing. I used my Clarisonic and after 2 or 3 uses that dry hard skin was GONE! Usually that would take up to a week to get back to normal, but with the Clarisonic it was literally 24hrs. My skin was not sensitive or sore, even though I expected it to be. That makes me believe that the Clarisonic is suitable for sensitive skin.
I’ve been using the Clarisonic for a few weeks now and I will honestly say, if you have the money, invest in one of these. This device is an investment for your skin I feel!
- My skin feels smoother and looks more clear.
- I don’t seem to be developing blackheads, which must mean that my pores are sparkly clean and clear 😉
- Texture is not as prominent, so I am sure in time, coupled with all my other favourite skin care products, it will only get better.
- My dry patches are non-existent and my foundation looks so much smoother on my skin.
I wish that the foundation brush head was available in South Africa…the brush Tati raves about, but for now it doesn’t seem to be available. Hear our pleas Clarisonic!
What do you think about the Clarisonic Mia 2? Hell no you won’t spend that on a ‘cleansing brush’, or are you intrigued and adding it to your wishlist?
Edit: Clarisonic is no longer available in South Africa.

I had it in my cart wen Tati had the promotional code. It was a gift set with all the brush heads including the foundation one. Due to commitments I didn’t checkout ????
It’s still on my wishist though, maybe at a later date.
I’m so jealous, lol. Enjoy!

I really want to pick up those brushes. They have such nice brush gift sets at the moment. I know she released a code recently again, but I can’t find it. The SA shop doesn’t have as big a variety.
I really hope you manage to get one eventually 🙂

Oh my – I can totally feel your 17 rows of eeeccckkss here and clearly the results speak for themselves. Sounds amazing but definitely not in my price range… I would love to try this though – as I keep saying my skin needs a revolution. But its 2018 time for all those new year feels and better treatments.

Lol. There are cheaper alternatives from Sorbet, Clinique (not much cheaper), but I can’t vouch for how well they work though.
You’re still young my friend…at 37 the struggle is real 😉

Really detailed. I am looking to purchase something like this but i’d love to know more about their cruelty free/sustainable status? Thanks
Simone
Hi Fazeelah
I must be honest, until you posed this question, I didn’t really think about that. I have googled now and it seems the brand is not cruelty free. If you’re looking for a cruelty free alternative though, I believe the Foreo Luna is also a very good facial brush cleansing type of gadget.
They used to be available in South Africa, but I have been told recently that it’s not available anymore in SA> Not sure how true that is.

WOW! I Love your reviews. I so want this product, like you I was so hesitant because of the price. But investing in good beauty products that can save your skin is worth it.
Thank you, Hun.

oh my gosh I wish I didn’t read this review …. now it’s on my wish list too. I think I’m going to start monitoring for discounts 🙂 but since skincare is on my 2018 list… guess I’ll have to hint to my husband for a very early birthday gift. Great review and now I’m seriously wanting one!! lots of love x

Do you still use your Clarisonic and if so, where do you get your replacement brushes from?
