My BH Cosmetics Haul + {Giveaway CLOSED}

I feel like HAUL is a bit of an exaggeration, so we’ll call it a ‘mini-haul’. BH Cosmetics is always having a fabulous promotion on….anything from 20% to 35% off. I think I manged to buy my goodies on a 33% off promotion….somewhere in that vicinity. I previously purchased the Carli Bybel palette from them, so I know they make really decent quality eye shadows for amazing prices. If you want more info on how I purchase my makeup overseas, you can check out this post.

Studio HD Brow Pencil

Studio HD Brow Pencil in ‘Brunette’ (RSP $6,99)

I didn’t have high hopes for this brow pencil, because I am slightly obsessed with my MAC brow pencil. This however really surprised me. The spoolie on here is nice and thin and combs through my unruly brows. Then the formula of the pencil is nice, it’s not too creamy, but not too stiff. I can really fill in my brows, but not worry that I’ll go overboard. The tip is thin so it allows for precise lines and hair like strokes to fill in my brows. The shade is also slightly warm toned, so I feel it adds nice dimension to my cool toned brows. I really like this and I wish I picked up at least 5 of them for backup!

Brow Gel in ‘Clear’ (RSP $6,99)

This is again another great product. This really sets my brows and locks them into place, without leaving them overly crunchy. Though truth be told, I don’t mind crunchy brows. Crunchy means they are not going anywhere! It’s just a really good clear brow gel and does the job.

Studio Pro Beauty Sponge (RSP $4,99)

You know me and my beauty sponge obsession by now. #BuyAllTheSponges seems to be my life motto. Sadly this one is not one I’ll be reaching for a lot. It’s a lot denser and harder than I’d like. It’s not awful, but I’d probably say it reminds me of the older blue UBU sponges. I gave mine away, so I’m not sure if they have been upgraded in recent years, but I did not love that sponge. Once I discovered sponges like the ones from Real Techniques, Cala, Urban Studio, at good prices, I really cannot justify paying hundreds of rands for sponges. So I know at the R100 mark, there are good sponges available. This one isn’t one of them.

It’s my Raye Raye palette

ItsMyRayeRaye – 21 Color Eyeshadow, Highlighter & Contour Palette (RSP $22,50)

Let me start by saying, I have/had no idea who Raye Raye is. I hear Raye and I think of Ray J….Kim KW and him being Brandy’s brother. True story. So apparently this collaboration has nothing to do with Brandy’s brother and Raye Raye is a You Tuber with around 1.7 million subscribers. When I saw this was a collaboration with a WOC, I had to have it. Some times I find certain hyped palettes don’t work for all of us. I have darker eyelids so some colours don’t show up, so this was something I really wanted to support. Also, the packaging and the purple shades with the neutrals….had me going gaga. In addition to 15 eye shadows, the palette also comes with 3 highlight shades and 3 contour shades.

Contour side of the palette

Spice‘ is my favourite shade from this palette and then ‘Mocha‘ is a beautiful contour shade on my medium skin tone. I am amazed that BH Cosmetics can give you a full face palette for $22,50! That is under R300. Why can’t we get this quality at this price in South Africa? The US is definitely spoilt for choice when it comes to makeup. Especially at the drugstore. If I run out of the house, this is the palette I have been grabbing lately. I can set with ‘Chai’, contour, highlight and obviously, do my eyes with just this one palette. The packaging is pretty, feels sturdy and is nice and compact.

Let me know if you want a full review on this palette with swatches. This post would be a bit too long if I had to run through everything. In a nutshell, the shades are pretty. All the colours blend together really well. I do find the shimmers tend to fade during the day, but seeing as I usually have it in my bag, I just do a little dab to freshen it up. Otherwise I think this is well worth the money. Also you’re able to get this palette for as low as $16 when it’s on sale with BH Cosmetics. That’s INSANE!

Okay so now for the exciting part….. when I placed my last order, BH Cosmetics was running a promotion and I ended up receiving a free palette, the ‘Afternoon Rendezvous’ palette. As pretty as it is, and as much as I wanted to keep it for myself, I thought it would make a lovely addition to one of my reader’s collection. I’m also adding one or 2 other goodies, but you’ll have to keep an eye on my social media for the additional items. I’m going to keep this one simple.
