{CLOSED} Colourpop Fem Rosa Palette Review {+ Giveaway }

Can you believe day 5 is upon us? I really enjoyed this little collaboration with my friend over at Slay Uniqueness. If you enjoyed this series, let us know and we’ll do something similar in future with other makeup products….definitely something we’re toying with. Anyways….let’s get to todays’ post…where you’ll find our final reviews and what you’ve all been waiting for…THE GIVEAWAY NEWS! We started this week with amazing palettes from Colourpop, so it seemed fitting that we end it with Colourpop too. Today I am reviewing the Fem Rosa palette, also known as the SHE palette. What’s up with the 2 names though?

I’ve always had a longing for a pink and purple toned palette and when I realised this palette was LIMITED EDITION, I had to get it before I missed out. I must be honest though, because with Colourpop you never know. I thought I bought this on the last restock, but then they had another ‘last restock’. Currently it’s sold out though, so they may be telling the truth.  This is another collaboration palette and this time it’s with Karrueche Tran. I must admit I have no idea who she is *can’t look face*.  Google says she is or was linked to Chris Brown. Maybe somebody can educate me? Moving on….

Colourpop SHE palette

What is this palette about?

It’s coming up roses in soft mauve tones and buttery metallic finishes. Romantic shades make it easy to transition from sweet damsel to femme fatale.

As with the Dream St palette, this one is also made up of 12 shades, a mix of mattes, metallics and satins. A rundown of the shades from left to right:

  • Ladylike: metallic soft champagne
  • Babe: satin light peachy pink
  • Dainty: metallic pinky taupe
  • Chick: metallic subtle gold
  • Mademoiselle: metallic rose gold
  • Gal: metallic red with copper duochrome
  • Empress: metallic mid-tone pink plum
  • Filly: metallic rusty orange
  • Dear: matte warm rose
  • Missy: matte deep burgundy
  • Damsel: matte smokey violet
  • Duchess: matte dusty coral

Packaging

As you’ve seen in previous Colourpop palette reviews, the packaging is pretty standard. A nice slim, compact cardboard palette and this one also has no mirror. The design is stunning though, very romantic with the roses and shades of red and plum and it ties in with the colour scheme perfectly.

Each pan has 0.85gm of product, so the total weight of the 12 shadows is 10.2gms.

Where and how much?

I purchased mine directly from the Colourpop website for $16, but you can find it locally and truthfully with customs and shipping, you’re better off purchasing locally. You can find this palette on the Fashion Police website, and it retails for R400 the last time I checked. {Who spotted the copy and paste?…lol}

Swatches

Fem Rosa palette swatches

The sun was very bright the day I took these swatches, so apologies for the glare, but oh my….these are so stunning don’t you agree? As usual, I am not about swatching all day, so I swatch the shades that speak to me the most. It may be a lazy tactic, but there are 100 gazillion swatches available online. If there’s a specific swatch you want, I don’t mind doing that on an instagram story for you 😉

I swatched from top to bottom:

  • Dainty
  • Empress
  • Filly
  • Missy
  • Damsel
  • Duchess

The formula and my experience?

The highlight to me in this palette are the metallic shades. I think they are GORGEOUS! They swatch beautifully and they look stunning on the lid. I do find ‘Gal’ misbehaves a bit…as she would seeing as we share a name 😉 This is the only shade that I feel flakes or gives a bit of fallout. Otherwise there are no issues.

Colourpop matte shades are lovely, soft and pigmented. I prefer the mattes from the Dream St and Yes Please palette, but I think these shades are a bit more difficult to develop. I’ve heard that red is a difficult colour to get right, so I’m guessing these are related to red a bit, so perhaps that’s why I find them not as good as the warmer toned palettes I own. There’s no fault to them at all…they blend well, they wear well on the eyes, I’m really just stating some thoughts as I type. A preference if I may?

A criticism I have is that I wish they gave me one brown transition shade. I’m always going to start my makeup with some sort of warm brown transition shade, so that is the only thing I am missing in this palette.

SHE Palette review

Would I recommend this palette?

Definitely! It’s a beautiful palette for those soft romantic looks you’d want to create. You can also obviously mix and match the palettes as you need to. I just love having these mauvey pink shades in one palette….I just smile when I look at this palette <3

I’ve become that girl that has 3 different palettes open for that 1 extra shade I need when I’m doing my makeup! I never thought the day would come….but funny back story….I came across a FB status last week where I declared in 2014 that I don’t wear makeup. If only that girl knew what was awaiting her…and her bank balance!

So…does this palette make you smile too? I hope so…because today I’m giving away one of these palettes! EEEKK!!!! When I bought it on the last restock, I toyed with this one and the Dream St palette. I went with this one, because I fully intend to get a Dream St palette to giveaway in future, but with this one being limited edition, I thought I’d get this one first. I hope you all are happy with my selection!

In addition to this palette I’m giving you an Elizabeth Arden Plush Up Gelato (you’ll get to choose between a few shades which one you want) and a loose blush that I think will compliment this palette beautifully.

Entering is easy, using the rafflecopter widget! Yolanda and I are running one widget for both prizes, so we’ll be selecting 2 winners from the same pool of entries. If you’ve paid close attention, you would have noticed in every post, there was a red word. You need to find the red word to make up a phrase and enter it into the widget below.

I’m going to be blunt here…Giveaways cost me money. It takes a lot of time and effort putting these posts together. A post a day is no joke. Added to the fact that I have 3 kids, a husband who is currently unemployed and hectic work deadlines at the moment, giveaways are really a labour of love, time and money. I could take my kids out with that cash (or pay a bill), but I choose to try to give back to my readers. I know the envy I used to feel looking at other bloggers collections…so my hope is always that my prizes go to homes where they are appreciated. So that is the reason we’ve put this little phrase in as a requirement, to ensure you’re at least reading our posts. We really loved doing this collaboration and we enjoy doing giveaways…I mean do you see the fabulous giveaways Yolanda is always running??? So we hope you’ll enjoy the spirit of this giveaway and how we’ve put the entry process together <3

Enough about that, I’ve imposed on you for long enough now with this LONG post…get your entries in! Don’t forget to head to Yolanda’s post for the LAST review and to see what’s in her giveaway! EEEKK!!!!
