Elizabeth Arden Plush Up Lip Gelatos {#FollowUp Friday}
Is it just me, or did this short week not feel like a short week? Always greedy for more….I can’t help myself. Believe you me when I say that I am living for the long weekend at the end of the month! Moving along…you know what today is right??? #FollowUpFriday! Basically it’s a sort of product spotlight, where I will do a review on only 1 product. I find products get lost in hauls and monthly favourites, so this series is to give some products their moment to shine (or tank). Today’s product you have seen MANY times on my Instagram and it’s also currently included in the giveaway I’m running with Slay Uniqueness….I’m talking about the Elizabeth Arden Plush Up Lip Gelatos.
What are these ‘Gelatos’ about?

Give your lips what they have been craving. This creamy gel formula leaves your lips sheer and shiny with a kiss of color . The unique cooling ingredients creates an instantly plumped up look while the sweet gelato flavor creates an addiction that will keep you wanting to come back for more.
These are available in 10 shades in South Africa currently. Key ingredients include:
• Peptides and Hylauronic Acid: Smooth and condition while helping to create fuller looking lips.
• Shea Butter: Soothes, protects and helps lock in moisture.
• Vitamin A, E and Rosemary Extract: Rich in antioxidants, leaves lips feeling soft and nourished.
• Gellified Film Formers: Create a cushion-like texture while helping to lock in moisture and color.

Packaging
These Plush Up Lip Gelatos come in a sleek pitch black casing with the Elizabeth Arden logo on the outside. Very pretty and unique in my opinion. I haven’t seen anything like this anywhere else. Opening these are a bit of an education though…..#TrueStory. You need to slide the logo portion upward to release the lipstick so it opens up. The first few times you’ll find yourself wondering what the diggins it will take to open them…swearing, a secret tap on the actual product, prayers to the makeup gods….but I promise eventually you will figure it out and wonder why you ever thought it was complicated.
Where and how much?
These are available at Edgars, Foschini, Red Square and Woolworths and they retail for R295.

The formula and my experience?
These apply really nicely and smoothly. Natural blush doesn’t have a lot of pigment, but the name suggests it’s more of a natural shade. Indeed it is, it looks very natural on the lips….your lips but better? I am so over dry matte lips, so I have been reaching for these a lot. Red velvet is actually one of my favourite shades, it packs more pigment than I expected, but nothing obnoxious. In winter this is going to be a lovely darker shade to wear, while also ensuring that your lips are nourished and moisturised.
The claims based on consumer studies on these gelatos are that:
• 100% thought the lipstick was comfortable to wear and imparted a sheer finish
• 98% thought lips felt smoother after application
• 98% thought lips felt moisturized after application
• 98% thought the lipstick instantly melted onto lips and had an ultra lightweight feel
• 96% thought lips looks shiny
• 85% thought lips look plump
I really can tick the box for all of these. They are comfortable, sheer, lightweight, moisturising and there is a slight plumpness. They don’t tingle like some lip plumpers do, it’s nothing uncomfortable. More like a minty feel on the lips for a few seconds. Something to mention, there’s no scent on these. I assumed there’d be a scent, but it smells like absolutely nothing. Some people prefer that, some people don’t….so just letting you know.

Would I recommend these?
I actually won 10 of these a few months back, so I need to add that I did not pay for these. Would I though? After testing them, yes I would. I felt that R295 was a bit steep for a ‘tinted lip balm’, but these are more than a tinted lip balm in my opinion. They are luxurious and since wearing them, I have not needed to use a lip scrub. My lips feel great, almost like they treat my lips as well, and that’s from wearing it maybe twice or thrice a week.
I gave a friend one of these and she was so impressed that she immediately went out and bought 2 more…full price. Not even on promotion! So I think that kind of speaks for itself.
Have you tried these yet? Are you interested in trying them? Just a reminder….you can win one with a Colourpop palette in my latest giveaway post. Use it, don’t use it 😉
Have an amazing weekend gals!
