Elizabeth Arden’s Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup {Review}

I’ve been a fan of Elizabeth Arden for quite a while, but I’ve only dabbled in their skin care, primers and more recently one of their lip products.  Recently I arrived home to the most beautiful package from Elizabeth Arden containing their new Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup foundation. The foundation was stacked in a coffee plunger filled with coffee beans. I know we love our coffee and makeup, but what was that about? It’s genius actually, because I quickly realised that the foundation actually contains caffeine….. I was intrigued! Without further ado, let’s jump into the review.

What is this Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup about?

This weightless, unique foundation awakens, energizes and revitalizes skin. Ingredients including Peppermint, Ginseng and Caffeine deliver a refreshing sensation to wake tired, dull skin, the bouncy-gel formula perfects skin’s texture and tone for a flawless complexion.

Texture Innovation:

Flawless Finish Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup is formulated with a network of polymers that mimic skin’s natural movement. The elastomer 3D Gel-Network seals pigments, essential oils and antioxidants to skin while brightening and blurring imperfections. The unique bouncy formula is a hybrid of a powder and a cream in a gel format, leaving skin with a soft, naturally luminous finish.

The Key Ingredients are Jojoba Oil, Peppermint Oil, Ginseng and Caffeine. This cocktail of ingredients are all meant to be rich in antioxidants and stimulants to leave the skin feeling revitalised and energized. Hello caffeine!

These are available in 14 shades.

Packaging

The packaging…..wow! I think the packaging on this is just stunning and so classic. The foundation is in a sleek matte black compact. It’s soft and smooth to the touch and just feels expensive in my opinion. Inside the compact there is a really nice mirror and 9gms of product. There is also a 2nd compartment that houses a little round sponge type applicator.

Where are how much?

These compacts retail for R485 and are available at selected retailers.

Swatches (top to bottom): Shade 10, 08 and 06.

Swatches

I received 3 shades to test out and I was pleasantly surprised that somehow the Elizabeth Arden team knew in which shade range I was bouncing around between. I received shades 06, 08 and 10, which is shown in the swatches above. Shade 08 is actually a perfect match for me.

The Formula and my experience

The first thing that hits you…is the mild caffeine scent when you open the compact! How can you not smile when you smell coffee as you are doing your makeup? The scent doesn’t linger though, so no worries about that.

The texture of this is unlike anything I’ve tried before. If you press into it, it’s like putty, where your finger will leave a dent. You can then just smooth it out again and it’s as good as new. That’s kind of fun to sit and poke at your makeup. Yes….really.

Off the bat I am going to say that I do not like the sponge applicator, but there is a purpose for it….I will reveal later. I did try to apply with the sponge applicator provided, but I felt I was picking up so much product, with no coverage. My spidey senses kicked in and I grabbed a wet beautyblender and that was a much better experience and application. I got coverage immediately.

Everyday Perfection Bouncy Makeup in shade 06 ‘Toasty Beige’

This feels really lightweight on my skin, like I don’t even have foundation on. I love that about it! This looks very natural on my skin…my skin, but better. I have worn this with just mascara and a lip gelato (and my brows done) and off I went. It looked very natural and I felt really confident, despite having a bit of a hormonal episode at that point in time. I’d say this is light coverage, if you have good skin with no really dark blemishes, then maybe you can get up to a medium coverage. This product nowhere claims to be a full coverage or even medium coverage foundation though.

This feels like a powder on my skin, a very smooth velvet powder. It’s not dewy, but not matte, definitely somewhere in between. I may sound like a stuck record, but very natural and skin-like.

Everything blended well on top of the foundation, my bronzer, blush and highlight. So there were no issues there and I also wore it for a good 6 – 8hrs each time and I experienced no fading or separation. I also didn’t experience too much oil, just the usual after about 6hrs.

Would I recommend it?

Yes I would!! I really really enjoy this foundation. I have honestly reached for this the last 4 or 6 times that I have done my makeup. Many days, I do my makeup in the car so this is really convenient. I don’t have to squirt or pump foundation onto the back of my hand, I swipe, dab and done. Minimal blending (I mean MINIMAL) to be done, so on the go, this is great! Also it’s so compact and sleek, it takes up minimal space so I actually do use it during the day when I need to touch up.

Lastly, The sponge applicator….I find it’s perfect for oil blotting when the afternoon oil starts peeping through! It’s conveniently in the compact so you don’t have to worry about carrying an additional pack of blotting sheets. If this sounds like your kind of thing, then I think you would enjoy this.

However if you are a high coverage kind of girl, you would not like this at all! Also some may take issue with dunking a sponge back into the compact when you have potentially used the sponge on pimples, so bacteria issues. I’d make sure to use different sides of the sponge and use a clean sponge every time.

What do you gals think…is this a foundation that interests you?
