My March 2018 Beauty favourites!

So that’s another milestone ticked off the list, Easter….done and dusted. The public holiday highlight of the year, but thankfully there are still a few ahead. It’s April…the 4th month of 2018. Phew….I feel like I’m on a merry-go-round that I just can’t get off of. Life is just so fast paced that it’s giving me serious anxiety. I’ve actually become so stressed at this point, that its manifested in my life. My anxiety levels, my stress levels, and as a result, my skin has been suffering big time! March was a nightmare for my skin and I am just hoping that April brings with it clearer and less stressed skin.

What I was loving in March!

As a result of my skin issues, I did not wear a lot of makeup as I just wanted my skin to breathe and heal. Except when I knew I was going to see people, then I made sure to pile on the foundation. So just a warning to not expect too much makeup talk in this month’s monthly favourites post.

Pink Cosmetics Brush Cleaner

Pink Cosmetics Strawberry Champagne Brush Cleaner

I purchased this a while back from Pink Cosmetics and I really like this brush cleaner. It smells DIVINE, as do all Janet’s products apparently. Also it really gets the job done. I love that the soap is confined to a tub, so it’s really easy to use and store. Usually I’m chasing soap around my bathroom as it’s always slipping out of my hands! Also this cleaner is made with only good stuff! They are individually handcrafted and free from sulphates, parabens, phthalates, petroleum products and other skin irritants, and can be used daily without harming your brushes.

Vichy Normaderm Correcting Anti-Blemish care

If you’re a regular reader, you’d know that I really enjoy the Vichy Normaderm range. I recently ran out of the aqua-gel as well as my cleanser, so a restock was needed. I always pick this up when there’s a beauty fair/festival on, usually a buy 3 for 2 promotion.

My skin has become terribly oily, so I’m always looking for something that claims to keep my skin matte, controls oil and takes care of blemishes. Let me just say that nothing keeps me oil/shine free at the moment, and this is no different. However, I love the feel of it on my skin. This has an almost mousse-like cream texture, so it feels light when I apply it. It’s non greasy and I like that it claims to assist with blemishes. I have not used it long enough to test that claim out, but for a day moisturiser for an oily skinned gal, I enjoy this one a lot. I’ll report back after a few months, as heaven knows, I have a few blemishes at the moment to test the claim out on.

Ecotools Perfecting Beauty Sponge

The Ecotools Perfecting Beauty Sponge

I bought this as part of a duo pack, so it also came with a mini sponge. This one….is so bittersweet for me. I LOVE and adore this sponge. I see why it’s raved about…BUT this sponge tears really easily. It seems to have let up with tearing, or maybe I’m just gentler with it now, but it sucks that it contains as many tears as it does. Every time I do my makeup, this is the first sponge that I grab. It’s so soft and bouncy and just does an amazing job at blending out my foundation. I also feel that it doesn’t suck up a lot of my product like some other sponges do. I plan to buy the single sponge to see if it’s better quality than this one.

The Body Shop’s Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow mask

The Body Shop’s Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

I have posted about this mask before, so it’s no secret that it’s one of my favourites. I’m not sure if it’s in my mind, but the minute I apply this, it just feels like it’s doing something. I’ve noticed that it does tingle a bit more since I’ve started using a new skin peel product, but it’s not unbearable. Just something worth mentioning. There’s a full review of this mask over here.

Clarins SOS Primer in the shade ‘Rose’

I was testing this primer out in March, and I found even on no makeup days, I still enjoy wearing this. Besides being a primer, it’s a skin care product as well. I find it blurs my pores a bit and just rejuvenates my tired looking skin. I’ve done a review on this primer and I definitely feel it does a great job. My makeup looks a lot more vibrant with this primer when I did a side by side comparison with 2 different primers. These primers officially launched on 3rd April!

The Body Shop’s body mask brush

I picked this brush up on sale a few months ago, and I love it for applying face masks. It is a bit on the larger side, so it’s worth checking if they stock a smaller version of this brush, but I don’t mind swirling it around and digging in. The brush is so super soft and luxurious, so definitely a brilliant discovery for me. I’m glad I spotted this on Simran (Burgundy Beauty’s) Instagram stories a while back.

Eulactol Heel Balm

If you know me, you’d know that I HATE anything to do with feet. If you post a picture of your feet or your feet wearing flip flops…I literally gag inside my mouth. I HATE feet pictures in my feed. Also, I hate talking about feet, so even this post….I really would prefer not to write about things to do with feet. I just have an aversion to feet for some reason.

That being said, I don’t want people to be thinking: You hate feet, but look at yours!??? So I’m trying to take care of my feet, especially as we age, the feet ain’t as soft as they used to be. I read on a blog post many moons ago that anything with less that 10% urea is not effective as a heel balm. The Eulactol heel balm contains 25% urea to help soften heels. This stuff really works. My feet are feeling pretty good at the moment and I contribute it to this heel balm for sure, along with another gadget I’ve been using. I meant to include it in this month’s faves, but I forgot as I put these pictures together, so I’ll include it next month.

That’s that for monthly favourites! Let me know if you love or hate anything on my list…also let me know what you’re currently loving 😉

PS My husband does not like the filter I used for these pictures, let me know what you think. I am just trying out something new and playing around to see what I want my overall aesthetic to be.
