Mother’s day Gift Guide

I will try not to get too depressed about the fact that the long weekends are now a thing of the past…. Also, it’s May, so that means it’s the month that we celebrate ME! Okay and other mothers too. All mothers in fact. I think we bloggers pretend we put these ‘Mother’s day gift guides‘ together for our readers….but really we put them together for our husbands/significant others! I mean why do you just randomly compile a list of ALL the things YOUR HEART desires…and then go: Here, good idea for your husband/wife/significant other/mother/friend to buy for you? So I hope my husband reads this….in time…because I mean, he should be subscribed. No point in him reading this a month after I post it…so husband, just leave a smiley emoticon in the comments below….as acknowledgment of receipt of this ‘wish list’. Your acknowledgement will constitute an oath, to make this list happen. Unemployment aside….make it happen! That’s not asking too much is it? Let’s get started with my Ultimate Mother’s day gift guide…for myself (and maybe you spot something you love too)!

Soft Glam Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette ($42; Around R1 000 through a local reseller)

Featuring fourteen essential shades, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette is the perfect collection of easy-to-blend, full pigment shadows. With a long lasting formula, this palette is complete with bronze metallics and iridescent finishes ideal for a nighttime look and neutral mattes for daytime.

Do I even need to explain this heart item? I’ve always wanted to try an ABH palette and until recently, it was the Modern Renaissance. However, when this palette was released, I knew I just had to have it. Look at these shades? A neutral eyeshadow lovers dream, but with those pops of glam in between! This palette will become a reality…even if I buy it for myself!

I’ve wanted the Modern Renaissance palette for well over a year now though…and never got it. Lets see if the universe is listening this time!

Levi 310 Longer Length Skinny jeans

Levi 310 Longer Length Skinny jeans (R999)

If you know me, you know that I have never ever been a person to wear jeans! This was due to my horrific body issues and apparently my thighs had no business being in pants/jeans. Because people would then see that I had big thighs! Because they couldn’t see it when I wore skirts. They thought I was Twiggy under all those gypsy skirts…right??! ha ha

If you haven’t seen me in a year or 2, you may fall over if you spot me out. Chances are I may be wearing jeggings or jeans. Shocking! I still don’t LOVE them, but I do like them. I see the appeal…multiple wears before you wash, pairs well with anything! Dress up, dress down. When I spotted these on the Spree website….I fell in love. I’m not about spending 1k on jeans though….so hopefully they have some amazing sale happening to make this happen!

Queen of Everything

Typo (R199)

Basically it could be ANYTHING from Typo…..who doesn’t love Typo? This wine glass though, is at the top of my list! Hello??? Queen of Everything? Sounds about right!

A rose by any other name, would still smell as sweet….

Flowers

I am a sucker for a good bouquet of roses! I think my flowers at my wedding cost more than the food. Not even kidding….I love flowers! My husband once had a flower buying addiction. I actually used to roll my eyes and go: Really, more flowers? My last bouquet is not even half dead yet!??  So he is well versed in flower buying….

He started buying my flowers from Woolworths and he now doesn’t buy them anywhere else. They have a stunning selection and a bouquet to suit every pocket, cost wise. Also their flowers have a 5 (or 7) day guarantee. Out of 20…30 bouquets, I only needed to return my flowers once. Yes I did, because my money…costs money. So if they’re dead before they’re supposed to be (like day 2 or 3)…not cool. That one instance aside, Woolworths bouquets are always on my wishlist. Oh my husband doesn’t have that addiction problem anymore. We have 3 kids now…flowers are a luxury reserved for special occasions.

Hand Cream (R150)

Hand cream is something I love! I saw this cute limited edition tin from Sorbet with 4 hand creams. I think it’s a really cute gift.

Lindt makes the heart grow fonder….right?

Lindt

If all else fails though, is there anything better than Lindt? Those balls….the slabs…. I don’t think you can go wrong with Lindt. *insert heart eyes emoticon*.

So tell me, what’s on your list for Mother’s day? If you aren’t a mom yourself, what are you getting your mom for mother’s day? And if I’m an insensitive jerk and you don’t have a mom….I apologise for this post. If you don’t have a mom, or you aren’t a mom…sending you lots of love and good vibes, because I’m sure it can be a hard day to get through for some.

If you have a mom (or kids), make sure to hug them and love them…the day (and everyday) isn’t about gifts..it’s really the gift of being in each other’s lives. I honestly had no idea how hard it was being a mother…until I became a mother. The best gift for me (let’s pretend I totally didn’t write this list) is that my mom didn’t smother me to death as a baby…and that my kids think I’m actually doing a good job with this mom stuff 😉

I’m Simone, a mom of 3, a wife...obsessed with my family, makeup and books!
