Meet Dermalogica Kit {Review}
Dermalogica skin products have been a lust list brand for me for years! I spotted their products on blogs I followed, but I just felt they were priced out of my budget. Years ago I managed to try out their Pre-Cleanse thanks to Rubybox and I was so sad that I loved that pre-cleanse so much, because I knew I could never afford it. #TrueStory As I age and evolve in life though, I’ve come to realise that I can’t put a price on my skincare. Okay I can…La Mer…it’s never happening…but brands like Dermalogica, Kiehl’s, Elizabeth Arden, Clarins, etc…decently priced high-end…I can check out deals, save, make an effort to own products that I feel my skin needs. You can find items at the Drugstore of course, I’m just at the age where I want to try as much as I can and find what works for me, before it’s too late.
In April, Dermalogica had a promotion on the Meet Dermalogica kit for 50% off. I jumped at the opportunity to try out 4 of their best selling products, in travel size, at half the price!
What is the Meet Dermalogic Kit about?
It’s the perfect introduction to Dermalogica. A special collection of our favourite (and most popular) products. With this complete regimen, you’ll quickly see for yourself why Dermalogica is the #1 choice of skin care professionals worldwide.
The kit consists of:
- Special Cleansing Gel
- Daily Microfoliant
- Skin Smoothing Cream
- Multivitamin Power Firm
Special Cleansing Gel
What is it?
Soap-free, foaming gel cleanses all skin conditions. Refreshing lather thoroughly removes impurities without disturbing the skin’s natural moisture balance. Calming Balm Mint and Lavender extracts soothe the skin, while natural Quillaja Saponaria gently foams away toxins and debris. Formulated without artificial fragrances and colors.
This cleanser, as the name suggests, is a gel. I find it lathers nicely and I enjoy using it with my Clarisonic. It’s really gentle on the skin and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped at all. I love that it contains products that are meant to soothe the skin.
Daily Microfoliant
What is it?
Gentle, daily use exfoliating powder for all skin conditions.Unique Rice-based powder formula activates upon contact with water, releasing Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes that micro-exfoliate dead cells, instantly leaving skin smoother and brighter. Our unique Skin Brightening Complex helps to balance uneven skin pigmentation while a super-soothing blend of Green Tea, Ginkgo and Colloidal Oatmeal helps to calm the skin, leaving it extraordinarily clear and refreshed. Gentle enough to use on a daily basis. Formulated without artificial fragrances and colours.
I spoke a bit about this product in my April favourites, so you already know that I really enjoy this product. The one quality that gives it the edge over other facial powders, to me, is that it lathers. I also love how gentle it feels on my skin, not abrasive at all. The fact that it contains Salicylic Acid, means a lot to me as I do struggle with weekly blemishes at this stage. The addition of salicylic acid helps with calming and dealing with breakouts faster.
My husband peeped out of the shower recently with this product in his hand and went: “How much is this?” I assumed that he wanted to tell me he spilled it and needed to replace it. Before I could answer he went: “Expensive?” I replied that it’s a bit pricey, but why is he asking? He broke out into this huge grin and went: “Because I LOVE it. We need more! I’ve been using it everyday. It makes my skin feel so clean and soft.’
I just smiled and went: “Welcome to the dark side…..” I struggle to get my husband invested in a good skin care routine…but Dermalogica may be what he needed all this time…and I am so here for it!
Skin Smoothing Cream
What is it?
Medium-weight moisturizer to balance combination/dry skin. Deep-moisturizing Lecithin and Aloe Gel nourish while extracts of Mallow, Cucumber and Arnica soothe and hydrate the skin, helping to restore suppleness and tone. Antioxidant Grape Seed Extract plus vitamins C and E help shield skin from environmental assaults.
What I love about this moisturiser, is that it contains ingredients to soothe the skin, as well as the inclusion of the Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and something that my skin definitely needs, with me being in my late 30’s already. I am looking to add more Vitamin C to my skin care routine going forward.
Even though this is for dry/combination skin, my oily skin also really enjoys it. It’s not greasy at all, and it really does leave my skin feeling ‘smooth’. In Winter, this is a great day cream for me and I also use it at night at times, before my facial oils/serum.
Multivitamin Power Firm Eye cream
What is it?
Powerful firming complex helps combat lines around the delicate eye area. Help accelerate skin’s natural repair process with Vitamin A (Retinol) as antioxidant vitamins C and E improve elasticity while scavenging free radicals. Silicones shield vulnerable skin, acting as a protective barrier against further assault. Seaweed Extract helps firm and minimize the appearance of fine lines. Makes a great make-up prep prior to concealer application. Formulated without artificial fragrances and colors.
Thanks to Tori from Kiss, Blush and Tell...I’m all about getting some Retinol onto my skin..ASAP! This eye cream contains Retinol as well as vitamin C and E, which I’ve mentioned above, is needed at my age. This has such a lovely silky, silicone-y texture and really glides onto the skin so well. It’s perfect before concealer and I find when I use it, I have minimal creasing of my concealer.
This product does have a sweet scent to it…so if you hate scents, be aware. As with most scents, this doesn’t linger though.
What would I recommend?
If you are by the means to pick up the ‘Meet Dermalogica‘ kit to try out all of these products, I’d say go for it! For me, the Daily microfoliant is a MUST HAVE! I will be purchasing a full size of this as soon as my mini runs out. The skin smoothing cream and the eye cream are tied for 2nd place as items I’d recommend. It depends if you’re in the market for a good eye cream or a moisturiser. I’ve already purchased a full sized version of the eye cream as a backup.
The cleanser is also really nice, but I tend not to splurge too much on cleansers, so this particular category of beauty products….I skimp on. I’m not sure, with my budget, if I’d repurchase this. I’d much rather buy some other skin care product from Dermalogica. Um…like the new Sleep Cocoon! Next on my list of items to try!
In case you missed it, I also recently did a review on the Charcoal Rescue Masque over here, so go check it out if you’re looking for more info on the Dermalogica brand.
So what are your favourites from Dermalogica? Have you tried any of these? Do you want to try any of these products?

I think this is exactly the kit I need for my skin. It’s giving me all sorts of hate, lately and I’m really looking for products to get it right. I also see some Retinol in the eye cream which I’ve been meaning to try! Definitely going to check this out

Let me know if you do and if you enjoy the products!

Sounds like a really awesome product range and kit especially for people who are a bit weary about getting full sized products.
Simone
Definitely, especially because skin care is so hellish expensive!

I’ve read great reviews on Dermalogica products, especially the Daily Microfoliant . I hesitate in trying because they are pricey. I’m in my 50’s with poor skin texture caused by acne since my teens, Sadly, I still get breakouts! Grrrr!!!! Can the Microfoliant be used with my own skin care products?? Or should it be used with Dermalogica products?? I’m glad to see their is a travel size kit that I’m anxious to try. Any suggestions? Your input very much appreciated.
Thank you very much! CG

I’m quite confident that you can add the microfoliant to an existing skin care routine. I hear you on the price though, so I would recommend that you go and let them do a complimentary face mapping and give you samples to try out first. Don’t make any commitment until you’ve managed to test the product for a few days to make sure you’ve had no reactions, etc.
