Products I regret buying!!

Being a blogger, and especially in the beauty industry, it can become pretty darn expensive. We buy products from brands we may never use on a regular day, but all for the love of the blog. We also buy products from brands we do love, because it’s a new launch and we want to have the tea warm and waiting for you. So YOU know if it’s worth the spend or not. I told you in a previous post about what a resource a blog can be, and we spend money in order to be that resource. With all this excessive spending, I’m bound to get quite a few products that I either disliked or products that just didn’t work for me. So today I’m going to share with you a few products that I regret buying!

Colourpop Supershock shadow in I <3 This

If this shadow is on this list, then I’m guessing I didn’t ‘heart’ it that much? I picked this up last year some time and I just was not impressed. There is no pigment, it’s just a sheer glittery mess. I’d say you could maybe use it as an eye shadow topper, but I don’t know if the glitter fallout is worth trying to make this work?

Essence Wake Up Spring Blush

I don’t hate this product, it’s just unfortunately not for me. I fell in love with the shade of this blush when I spotted it and I bought it immediately. The issue? There is the finest micro glitter in this blush, and for a woman my age…with texture and pores, micro glitter in blush, is not my friend 🙁 I don’t touch blush that has any sheen in it. Matte blushes only is what goes on my face! The sheen isn’t bad, it really just is due to my age and texture, that I just cannot wear this.

This is not a bad product though and I really like the shade. If I found this in a matte version I’d be all over it. Also the hidden mirror is FANTASTIC! It’s really clear and it’s a decent size. If I use it for nothing else, it would be the mirror!

The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5%

The Ordinary made big waves when it hit the shores of the world….it was ‘The Ordinary this…The Ordinary that’…… I jumped onto the bandwagon and I picked up this product from Beauty Bay last year sometime. This is a liquid exfoliator of sorts, and helps to reduce acne breakouts and the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging.  Now again, this is not a bad product, it may just be that I need something more. This did nothing for my skin. It didn’t improve it, it didn’t make it worse…it just felt like it added no value. I got through a quarter of the bottle and have never used it since.

Glamore’s Plum Dessert Rain Palette

Late last year Glamore was having a sale on and I picked up some goodies. This eyeshadow palette just caught my eye. Maybe it was giving me some Huda vibes? I’m not sure, but even though I thought the price was a bit steep, it was on sale, so all good. Sorry to say I was not a fan of this palette. The shadows blended away to nothing on my lids. The packaging just did not feel like a R400 palette to me either. I’m a HUGE fan of Glamore and some of their other products, but I just couldn’t bring myself to use this palette again. I even gave it to my sister without saying anything about how I felt, and she came back with the exact same complaint…everything blended away.

Their primer though, matte liquid lipsticks and highlighter….all get a big thumbs up from me!

Rimmel’s Hide the Blemish Concealer

I may have to apologise here and say that this product may be 73 years old! I’m not sure if it’s even on the shelf anymore? I picked this up when I was the girl before this blog. Clueless about makeup, looking for something to conceal blemishes and the dark circles under my eyes. The consistency of this just did not work for me for under-eye concealing. My under eyes looked so dry…but I think this is meant for blemishes and not under-eyes. I wrongfully assumed they shared the same purpose. So this may be my lack of knowledge and not that it’s a crappy product. It’s very thick and I can see that perhaps it would work on blemishes. I won’t chance trying it now though, because…it is 73yrs old!.

Wet n Wild Metallic Liquid Lipstick in ‘My Tulips are sealed’

When Wet n Wild releases a product, I usually lose my mind. These metallic lipsticks were not immune from that feeling. I picked up this peachy pink shade and I imagined this was going to be stunning! Not so much…. It’s streaky, so I have to keep trying to build it up which results in thick goopy lips with not much actual colour payoff. Also the shade is a bit obnoxious on my skin tone. I just don’t see this looking good with any makeup look I’d ever do. Now if you want a recommendation on a Wet n Wild lipstick I LOVE, check this post out for a review on the Liquid Catsuit Lipstick!

So these are just some of the products I regret buying and I hope you enjoyed the post! One product is not a reflection of the brand, so please remember that. Also, let me know which products you regret buying in the comments below, or if you have any experience with the above-mentioned products.
