Make up and beauty

Recent haul goods!

I hate haul posts on the blog, because to me it screams: Look at me, I have way too much money and I spend it on makeup! Honestly, I don’t need to justify my spending, but I used to have this idea that bloggers are all very well off. I just want to make it clear to you all, that I am not one of those well off bloggers. I am at that age where I probably should be more responsible, but when life gets me down (usually due to finances), I end up wanting some sort of instant gratification…shopping does that. We all know that struggle right? So I just want to say…PLEASE do not put yourself into debt to try and buy everything you see on a blog. Add things to your wishlist, save up….hint for special occasions, but please, it’s not normal. If not for the need to review content for the blog, or you being a makeup artist…or well off…..this is not necessary.

Okay….back to today’s post! What have I hauled recently???

Soft Glam Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette (RSP $42)

Some of you may remember that this palette featured in my Mother’s Day wish list. A friend had a makeup mule heading to Sephora, and with no customs, shipping and price markup, my husband gave me the cash to order the Soft Glam palette as my Mother’s day gift. To say I was like a kid in a candy store when my parcel finally arrived is an understatement! EEEK! This palette is sooo beautiful! The warm tones, the subtle glam…this is PERFECT for any makeup lover. The packaging is also next level, with the velvet cover….so luxurious.

Sephora face masks (RSP $14)

I had previously used the Sephora Green Tea mask and I really feel it’s an amazing mask for that time of the month. It dealt with my breakouts like magic! I managed to pick up another one and then I also thought I’d try out one of the pouch masks. I got the Grey Clay one. I’m hoarding these for now though.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara (RSP $10)

Okay, so this mascara has been a lust lit item for soooo long! It’s so silly to want mascara so badly, because really, there is a lot of mascara available in South Africa…and good mascara at that. I am just such a mascara person…always looking for something to give me popping lashes with minimal effort. We’ll see if this is the ONE!

MAC Fix Plus Matte (RSP R340)

The launch of the new MAC setting sprays made a big noise in the beauty community. I have only recently gotten my hands on the regular Fix plus, but when I saw there was a matte version, I had to have it! I have been enjoying this spray, and a full review will be coming towards the end of the month!

Sorbet Blow Dry Brush (RSP R129,95)

When you’re somebody with textured/curly/frizzy hair…..you like a blow dry brush with grip to really smooth your hair out. This brush looked promising…..and the price was not too bad either. This brush is absolutely amazing! I am going to buy one in every size and make sure I have backups! I can’t find it online on Clicks at this stage, but I picked it up in store at the Clicks in Sherwood (if you’re in Port Elizabeth).

Essence Super Curl Volume Mascara (RSP R59,95)

I saw JustineJuz feature an Essence mascara on her Instagram. I can’t recall if she showed it on her lashes or just the tube…you know it doesn’t take much for me. Simone had to have it. I ended up grabbing the wrong one and I didn’t realise. She had actually bought the Volume hero mascara, so I was hoping that I didn’t make a mistake with the Super Curl. This is starting to look like my monthly favourites post at this stage, but this is such a good mascara. I’ve only used it once, but I was very impressed. I’ll do a review once I’ve had it for a bit longer to see if the formula changes after a few weeks.

PS If you aren’t following Justine on Instagram….you need to! She’s so talented and artistic!

Exuviance Super Retinol Complex (RSP R1 072)

I’ve been wanting to get into Retinol for a while now. Retinol is apparently a game changer for your skin that stimulates the production of new skin cells. It’s said to help to fade dark spots resulting from photo-aging, hyperpigmentation, hormonal changes, and blemish scars. I have been dealing with blemish scars for years as I always have pigmentation from any and every pimple. I’m really hoping this product is going to help with that.

Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex (RSP R550)

I’ve needed a night cream for a while now and when I got the Retinol, this product was on the list of recommendations from Dermastore, so I ‘added to cart’. Also it contains Vitamin A, another thing I’ve been wanting to add to my skin care regime. Again, I can’t wait to see what these products will do for my skin in a few weeks. I’ve taken the most unflattering before photos, so we’ll see how it goes.

There were a few other odds and ends, but I think that’s it for this haul post. I hope you enjoyed my haul post, let me know if you want to see more of these. If you want reviews on any of these products specifically, let me know in the comments below! Also, if you’ve tried any of these, let me know what your thoughts are.

Lovely haul my friend! And yes I agree, I used to think all bloggers are well off too but I personally don’t think I fall under that category. I work hard for my money and when I get payed I feel like there’s a voice in my head sayin’ “treat yo’ self!” 😂 “you deserve it” , so that’s what I often tend to do. I do however think because I’m not married and I don’t have kids yet I have extra money to splurge, but I’m trying to be more responsible with finance… I’m also trying to step away from so much makeup and go more into skincare, so I’m really excited to see how the retinol works for you. I really want to start investing in my skin but with SO many “number 1” skincare products I’m still trying to decide what to try first.

You’re the well off blogger I’m talking about!! LOL. Just kidding…it’s very different when you don’t have other responsibilities….so enjoy the splurges while you don’t have money draining kids around! ha ha

That’s the problem…hauls just make us want to shop some more! LOL. And many people can’t afford it…so leave feeling jealous or kind of bummed out. I just needed to make it clear that not all of us live the more more-ish life…. I wouldn’t want my blog to be a trigger for somebody else.

I have only used it twice….but I am dying to play with it some more! We can makeup swop for a month…send me your peach palette! ha ha

I can assure you that the Lash Paradise IS THE ONE!!!! I LOVE IT! But truth be told after the first use I was like MEH, HUH, why all the fuss? But I fell in love after a few uses (maybe the formula was weird the the tube??). But you will love it. And I would love a review on the Exuvience product once you have got stuck into using it – and please keep it away from Adam.

I felt the same about the Bad Gal Lash…very ‘meh’ the first time I used it, then the next time I used it I loved it. The formula had dried down a bit. I can’t wait to crack it open!!!

I have a nephew that lives on the property and he is a year younger than Adam and starting to mess with my shit…while Adam has kind of toned down. FML for real. I lock my room’s door when I leave home now. lol
