The 5 most amazing eye shadow palettes I own!

I’ve had this post planned for weeks, with today’s date circled and planned in my organiser. So why it’s Saturday morning and I now frantically need to type out this post…. I have no idea. Thankfully my beautiful friend over at SlayUniqueness reminded me of our 5 Top Eyeshadow palettes collaboration today, so if I’m publishing today it means I finished in the nick of time. Phew…..

Today Yolanda and I are each going to be sharing our 5 favourite eyeshadow palettes with you, so be sure to head over to her post after you’ve read mine. This was sooooo hard to write gals! It felt like I was choosing my favourite children! I asked my husband to pick out his 5 faves just to help me choose. He has his faves, which may be a future post, but I considered his selection and it helped me choose mine.

These are palettes, that if I owned just that one, I’d be happy. Some of my go too palettes are not here, only because as much as I love them, I feel they are add on type of palettes. The palette doesn’t contain every single shade that I’d need on a daily basis. Dream St for example is one of my most reached for, but I need that spicy warm toned brown shade. That’s what would be missing. Without further ado though, in no particular order, here’s my 5 top eyeshadow palette selection.

1. Too faced chocolate bar palette

I posted about this palette before and how I honestly lusted over this palette. ‘Ecstatic’ is not the word to describe how I felt when I won this one. A cult favourite and with good reason.

This palette is THE palette that started the ‘scented palette’ trend. The packaging is cute and different, unlike anything else. You immediately recognize this palette from the packaging. Also, the shade selection is perfect if you love neutral palettes, but also want the option of doing something a little more daring. ‘Salted caramel‘ started my love for warm toned crease shades. This palette creates stunning looks and the shadows have amazing staying power.

2. BH Cosmetics It’s my Raye Raye palette

I don’t think I’ve reviewed this palette on the blog before, why I don’t know. I had no idea who Raye Raye was, but I’m glad she did this collaboration. These shades are so warm and comfortable and blend so well. When I say comfortable, I don’t know, but it just makes me feel like it’s such a reliable and safe palette. The shades are pigmented, but also buildable. I love the purple and pink shades….they work really well with the warm toned browns. I find out of all these palettes, these shadows do fade as the day goes on, but if I’m wearing it to work, that’s not a train smash for me.

The bonus with this palette is that it has contour and highlight shades as well. You cannot beat this value and quality at this price. If you have a deeper skin tone, I definitely recommend this palette, but also any skin tone can use this palette.

3. Julia’s Place The Saharan Palette

I have a thing for warm tones….that’s a given. This palette was out of my comfort zone, because I didn’t know what I’d do with these gold and red tones shades. Any hesitation though was quickly erased when I actually used it. The pigment in this palette is next level! I can see why Nikkie Tutorials is obsessed with Juvia’s place! We know Nikki loves her pigment and these pack a punch, so go in with a light hand! Jamila and Sokoto are such stunning shades!!!

Again this is such an affordable palette with amazing pigment and quality! For a full review on this palette, check out the post HERE.

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill

4. Morphe X Jaclyn Hill palette

Do I even need to say anything? Jaclyn is the makeup queen….one of the very first You Tubers I started watching. When this palette was leaked, I wasn’t super impressed. When it launched though, seeing it in real life, I thought it was a beauty of a palette. There’s so much to do with this palette, though if I’m honest, I use mostly the same shades over and over.

All the shades I’ve used blend well and the pigmentation has been good. The longevity of the shadows are amazing….I never have any issues with creasing or fading. Some of the darker shades I have to work with a bit, but I don’t mind. This palette is possibly the only one you’ll ever need.

If you’re OCD about the white cover getting dirty though, skip it! I have 3 kids… I’m OCD about nothing. Ha ha

5. Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette

Last, but certainly not least….the latest addition to the Ordinary Gal family. A bucket list item for me…. The Soft Glam palette. I’ve always dreamed of owning the Modern Renaissance palette, but when this one launched it just spoke to me.

These shades are just so up my warm toned soul’s alley….so I’m sure none of you are surprised by the inclusion of this one. I use 3 shades from here and it looks like I’ve spent an hour on my eyeshadow. The shades are long wearing and all the shades really blend well together. I know Yolanda is currently lusting over the Norvina palette from ABH, and initially I didn’t see the appeal, but I’m kind of warming up to the idea. That being said though, I am on a no-buy with eyeshadow palettes at the moment. If you want a full in-depth review of the Soft Glam palette, let me know and I’ll add it to my ‘to-do’ list.

That’s a round up of my 5 top eyeshadow palettes to own. I’d love to hear if any of these are your favourites as well or alternatively, let me know what your faves are in the comments below.

Now let’s head over to Slay Uniqeness’s blog post to see which palettes she chose!!

I’m Simone, a mom of 3, a wife...obsessed with my family, makeup and books!
