Adam turns 3 and we want to celebrate!!! + {Giveaway CLOSED}
I swear I don’t only have one kid….but I figure Adam is the youngest, he can’t really complain (or read) about what I write about him. Some of you have seen the fiascoes that arise when the kids spot what I’ve written about them on the blog. Oi vey! So seeing as he can’t complain, today’s post is about Adam. Adam turning 3 specifically! I’m not one of those moms that write letters and reminisce about the baby years….this is not that kind of post, I think……. I’m actually not sure what kind of post it will be….so bear with me….
Life before Adam
In 2013 my husband and I were trying to decide if we wanted another baby….I was at the height of my ‘losing-weight-and-training-sort-of-best-life‘ at the time. I wasn’t sure I wanted to put that on hold for a baby! With training and skipping pills, the week after we decided…okay we’ll do it…..we found out I was pregnant. Well I guess it was already out of our hands…what’s meant to be right? Only it wasn’t meant to be…after a rocky 4 weeks of puking that ended abruptly, we found out the abrupt ending of the vomiting signaled the end of the pregnancy. It was a tough time, because 2 weeks after the D&C I had severe complications and I am guessing I came close to the end of my life. The doctor said we’d conceive soon afterwards….only we didn’t. Fast forward a year and a few months later, and…..#BabyOnBoard. This was a month before somebody was due to have their baby making business closed…..
#BabyOnBoard
I had a horrific pregnancy.….I literally have nothing good to say about it…my hope was that the kid coming out at the end of the 9 months would be worth it. And he was….such a joy of a child. Never cried, slept well….I was the mom that got eye rolls…. 3rd time is a charm it seemed! Only it wasn’t….after a week long hospital visit when he was 6 months old, my child morphed into somebody else’s baby. A baby that decided for the next 1.5yrs he wasn’t big on sleeping. Oh how I prayed that year away…..just to make it and survive. Thankfully we did survive and you all recall that time when our boss baby turned 2! Well here we are…a year later….
As we approach the beginning of the 4th year…. I can honestly say….I don’t miss the baby years. I’m NOT that mom…this is NOT that blog…. I am happy to have a kid that can make his own peanut butter sandwiches….a kid I don’t have to watch when he walks down the stairs. Just another little self-sufficient human…..besides the damn nappy situation…..

Rainbow baby
When we had the miscarriage I was sad I guess, but it’s not something I dwell on at all or remember dates, etc. It’s probably easier for me, because we had our ‘rainbow baby‘ as they are called. Without the miscarriage….Adam would not be here. So to me, that was meant to be…. #SilverLining and all. Can you imagine the lack of blog content with no Adam?? What would my instagram stories actually be about? I cannot imagine a world without Adam…
- A world without his smile……that mischievous grin….
- An Adam that decides at 9pm he wants me to read 7 books to him, some with no pictures…. (FML on those nights though! lol)
- A boy who is so glued to his father….who loves his father like he loves no other…. ( I am sure my husband thinks FML when Adam refuses to go to anybody else 90% of the time…but they have a special bond and I know he loves and treasures that)
- The Adam that mimics his older brother and just looks at him with so much adoration and pride….. (My heart….)
- Adam….who loves to brush my hair….
- Who kisses our einas better….
- Who beats up the person that upsets his sister/brother/mom/dad/granny or cousin (nobody is safe…we all get a hiding if we make anybody cry…or pretend cry, because it’s fun to see him beat somebody up….lol)
- The Adam that you catch making his own nesquik…spilling a litre of milk in the process, but he’s so proud that he scaled the cupboards, opened the fridge, got a glass and did it! (Let’s ignore the lack of supervising skills in my household.)
This kid….he gives the best soft kisses and hugs. Ahh….my baby boy is growing up! Darn it…with these tears forming, maybe I am THAT mom…just a little bit….. Happy birthday my baby boy! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you….hopefully the future includes no nappies in the next few months…that would be nice. (I have to go there….lol)
So you all know how much Adam has destroyed in terms of my makeup right? I thought it only fair to use all his birthday gift and party money, to instead spoil one of my readers! I’m a good mom right?? Ha ha. Just kidding…Adam is not having a party this year…..and I promise the giveaway did not cost him a birthday present! I thought his birthday was just a good excuse to have a giveaway! If not, why not?

The day I found out I was pregnant it was the happiest 2seconds of my life then the doc said I’m miscarrying. I would of had twins but my pregnancy was ectopic and I was a little more than two months along but my gyne did nothing about just sent me home and I had to google what I needed to know. I almost died. But I don’t dwell on it either because if I do I may slowly go insane it’s been a few months but sometimes when I see moms with their baby’s I wonder if I would have made a good mommy
Simone
Ahh Ramona that is a really hard thing to go through…I am so so sorry 🙁 I pray that you’ll have the experience to be a mom one day soon if that is your heart’s desire…and I’m pretty sure you’ll make an amazing mom!

Although it was devastating to read of the make up destruction especially of the nude palette . You wrote this is in a light hearted humorous way . And the pics more so of cute Adam ….reminded me of my daughter destroying my favourite lipstick and highlighter. Adam is sooo adorable look forward to more of his escapades.🙂

Your parenting posts are all great because they are honest and you don’t pretend to always have it all together! Love that! I think the potty training post is probably one of my favourites because it illustrates how even with a third child, parenting brings surprises.

Reading about all the makeup Adam destroyed makes me marvel again at just how many sacrifices and adjustments we make as Moms! Had one of our treasured palettes or eyeshadows been dropped or even just cracked in our pre-Mom days, it would’ve felt like the end of the world but children teach us about priorities and patience (sometimes in not-so-pleasant ways) and we learn to get over stuff and move on and love them all the same!!😁😁😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤗🤗🤗😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️🌸🌸🌸💐💐💐💕💕💕

Happy Birthday dear Adam. I must say, I think I had to love and totally felt the “damn nappy situation” blog. I have a two year old daughter, baby of three kids, and with her sibling potty training was just so much easier and less fuss, and now madam comes in with a no nonsense attitude, basically making us understand….”that you will wait until I am ready”….and that’s exactly what we doing. Allowing her to just be a baby until she decides I’m literally ready to put on my big girl panties now 🙂
Megan
Definitely this post because Adam turns 3 and is now a big boy. congratulations to Mommy and Daddy for raising such a cutie 😉 xx
Donna
This post my friend.. totes love it. Thing is I don’t know which one’s my favourite though. Thing is all your posts are soooo real.. I love it. You say it straight out And I’ve told you that many times before. But I think it would have to be this one… or is it the cost of toddler destruction. Or the potty training one. Oi vey… his face in the pic with the toast …his face ..how do.You get upset with that face?

Awww… this is such a lovely blogpost! Absolutely stunning and witty! I love it

My favourite post was definitely the one where he destroyed the makeup items. Looking at the cost of it all, it’s heartbreaking. The sheer joy on his face whilst his doing it, unaware of the damage is heartwarming though. When he gets older (read: earns his own money, show him this and you will be rewarded with loads of makeup goodies)
Cirsten Van Den Heuvel
Love the Instagram feed with you taking adam birthday shopping to choose a present. I tried this with my two year old so can imagine how it went. Like a bull in a China shop. I’m so glad he chose the thomas train carrier it’s so adorable. Both my boys are thomas the train obsessed. Happy birthday to cutie pie adam

The cost of toddler destruction is definitely one that we can all relate to….And their abilities of destruction are limitless. My son is 5 and is still at it…but now it’s deconstructing his older brothers Lego masterpieces. …why we ask? Because I’m a master builder he says 🙈 everything is awesome 🎵
Boss baby turns 2 was also cute as i loved that movie too and your party looked awesome. These little ones definitely enjoy ruling the roost xxx

My favourite post about Adam would be this one. Love your honesty about the tough first years with him. I was a single mom at 16. It made me think about the rough couple of months of being a new young mom with a colic baby! Thank God for time and kids growing up! Would love this prize. P.S tomorrow, the 21st is my birthday. Fingers crossed for a nice surprise. Hahaha.
