Morgan Taylor’s Royal Temptations Spring 2018 Collection
Before there was makeup….there was nail polish. I probably owned over 100 bottles of nail polish at one stage. Every shade, brand and finish….I had to have it. Morgan Taylor was always a brand I loved, as they always release the most gorgeous collections. I always love seeing the collections they launch during the year, and I find their mini sets are such good value for money. Even though I feel they always leave the star of the collection out of the set. Of course it’s so I need to buy it in addition to the set…..very clever…. I see you Morgan Taylor!
I have been bad with my nails over the last few months! I’m somebody that used to sit with 100 nail art tools to rock different nails every week. So I’m happy to be feeling like my love for nail polish may be returning….. I’ve been picking up a bottle of nail polish here and there, painting my nails when time allows it. I stumbled into Dischem recently and noticed this mini Royal Temptations set from Morgan Taylor and I decided to grab it. The colours just kind of screamed Spring to me…and I’m so over the dark shades of winter.
This collection was inspired by the lavish life of Marie Antoinette and forms part of Morgan Taylor’s Spring 2018 collection. For those who don’t know, Marie Antoinette was the last Queen of France before the French Revolution. She was convicted of high treason and executed in 1793. Yikes!
What is this Royal Temptations collection about?
Brush on the decadence with Morgan Taylor’s Royal Temptations collection. Let them eat cake and have it too! Inspired by the lavish life of Marie Antoinette, the collection includes seven delicious shades. Opulent pastels of sea foam green, teal, purple, pink and coral help to convey a romantic royal fantasy. For an even sweeter nail look, add on the Over-the-top Pop, a special effect glitter that you can’t help but adore.
The colour palette for this spring collection is the perfect recipe of vintage elegance and modern fun with pastel hues and a multi-glitter special effect.
There are 6 colours in this collection and the one Over-The-Top pop special effect glitter sort of top coat.
The shades in this set are:
- My Other Wig is a Tiara
- Ruffle Those Feathers
- All the Queen’s Bling
- All my Heart Desires
- Beauty Marks the Spot
- Curls and Pearls
- Over-The-Top Pop
Pricing and packaging
The full-sized polishes retail for R149,95 and the mini set retails for R256. These are available at any Morgan Taylor stockist. I picked my set up at Dischem.

Application and my experience
All the Queen’s Bling is a very sheer pearly lilac shade. It has this slight iridescence to it. I found I needed to apply at least 2 coats, if not 3 to get more of a colour payoff. It’s a stunning colour though.
All my heart desires is the most opaque of the 4 shades. You could get away with one coat if you’re in a hurry. The formula isn’t streaky and this is a stunning bright pink, perfect for Spring and even Summer.
Beauty Marks the Spot is my favourite of the 4 shades. It’s a gorgeous coral peach creme sort of shade. This one needs at least 2 coats for full opacity. I found one coat was a bit streaky. I do however have ridges in my nails, so that could be the reason I feel it’s streaky.
Over-The-Top Pop is the one I was most excited about. I love a glitter sort of top coat and this is like glitter on steroids. Unfortunately….this did not meet my expectations. I feel the glitter particles are too heavy, so the brush can’t pick it up. You do get little flecks of glitter, but I just wanted more from this nail polish.
Would I recommend it?
If you love keeping up with the trends with nail polish, I’d definitely recommend this set. With the set it works out to R64 per polish and I think that’s good value for money. I never finish a huge bottle of nail polish in any event, so I LOVE minis! Often times there is that ONE shade that I wish was in the set, but I guess I could then just purchase the single separately.
I really want to get my hands on the teal shade! Dischem has a beauty fair on at the moment so that’s tempting…. right? What do you think of the Royal Temptations collection? Which brand is your go-to for the latest shades and trends for the season?

I always feel like people have their nails done just have their ish together. I love it, and always wishing I could just do it because it really changes the way I feel about myself. Love these colours, although I’m not really into a bright colours but out of this set, I would definitely go for All the Queen’s bling!

I know right, I feel the same way. I myself feel more accomplished when I have my nails done. lol

I love Beauty Marks The Spot! The top coat requires quite a bit of fishing, and can sometimes mean a very thick coat is needed!

I’ve tried fishing…. Do you have the mini or the full size? I’m not sure if the mini brush just can’t pick it up. I think perhaps once I also use up more polish and there’s not so much liquid, it will get easier to fish out.

I love all the shades just a pity about the glitter topper. I think the price for this mini set it’s great and because I like 3 out of the 4, I wouldn’t feel bad because it’ll still be worth it. Would definitely consider buying it. These shades would be perfect for honeymoon 😍😜
