Currently loving…..{April 2019}

Do people still watch or read monthly favourites? These used to be my favourite sort of posts, what people were ‘currently loving‘. Until it started feeling more like an advert of what people are paid to talk about OR the inclusion of items to hopefully hit said brand’s PR list. I’ve always tried to step back and ask myself: Are these products you love without a doubt? You’re not being shady hoping that by including the Porefessional Primer, hoping to make Benefit’s PR list? How much of these are #gifted items?  Also, why do you always use Benefit as an example Simone? LOL

As a blogger and a reader, these are definitely things I look at (in my own posts and others), and as a result, I really only read a few favourites posts these days. I don’t even watch them on You Tube anymore 🙁 There’s nothing wrong with aiming high, but we need to make sure we’re being 100% honest with our readers with every single post. That’s my goal…always….

Okay, no idea why this turned into a bit of a lecture and introspection for myself, but something that’s been weighing on my mind. Let’s get to my very long list of products I’m currently loving!

The Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Palette

I don’t know why I don’t use this palette more often, because it’s an absolute dream! It’s such a versatile palette, with beautiful neutrals, pinks, brick reds, blue-aqua vibes….. This palette has it all! It wears well, blends well…I really have no complaints and I’ve reached for it a few times over the last few weeks.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water

I know…I am a bit late to this party! The Bioderma micellar water has been a favourite of beauty gurus for years!! I was fortunate enough to win a bottle last year sometime, with a mini. The mini was to go into a giveaway, but my rascal ass son, threw my big bottle out on the couch recently. So sorry gals, I’ll be keeping the mini now.

This micellar water really cleans my skin well and I find it doesn’t sting my eyes at all…that’s a huge problem I have with other waters and oils. My eyes are super sensitive, so I’m grateful for this gem. It is pricey though, so I’d say look out for the ‘buy one get one free‘ promotion!

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm

I’ve always been of the opinion….one oil or balm is pretty much like the next. What could make something so special that I’d prefer one over the other? I’ve come to realise that I’ve been VERY wrong.

The Clinique Take off the Day Cleansing Balm is something special. The balm isn’t very thick or goopy….so I can grab some out easily, warm it up in my hands and onto my face it goes. I have another cleansing balm where the oil literally drips off my face and feels thick and gloopy. This just feels so light and then emulsifies once I add water. Skin Clean. Voila.

I usually use the Bioderma Micellar Water, then the Take off the Day Cleansing Balm, followed by a face wash. So extra I know, but this is on days I’m wearing makeup and I have skin that gets congested very easily. So I cleanse, cleanse and cleanse some more!

Clinique Anti-Blemish Clearing Solution

I purchased a little set off Clinque’s website, where I got the balm, a face wash and then I selected the spot treatment as my free sample. Boy am I glad that I did. This spot clearing gel is everything I need it to be. It CLEARS SPOTS! Some times the spot doesn’t even get a chance to fully form…this stuff stops sits in its tracks! This little sample will last me quite a while, but I’ll definitely pick up a full sized one once this one is finished.

Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules {#Gifted}

This was a launch I was VERY excited about. Retinol has a reputation for drying out the skin, so to me this made sense! The power of retinol, with the nourishment of their already iconic ceramide capsules. Now I don’t have many lines yet, so I can’t say that this product works for fine lines and wrinkles, but I do know that it makes my skin feel amazingly smooth and assists in reducing scarring left by pimples.

This is a bit rich for my chin area, and I find I develop milia in that area after using this, so I do try not to use too much or even avoid that area completely. I find even oil based cleansers cause this issue for me (with the exception of the Clinique Cleansing Balm and my Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse).

Sorbet Rejuvenating Body Butter

I received this as a birthday gift from a friend of mine and it came in a set with 4 different variants. This body butter is so light and fluffy and also has the most divine scent. Personally, I don’t think this is the most nourishing body butter in the world, but that’s why I like it. I don’t like thick or heavy body butters, so this is perfect for me, especially in Summer.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup

The Double Wear foundation has been a cult favourite for a long time WITH GOOD REASON!

All skintones. All undertones. Double Wear is made in your shade. Flawless. Natural. Matte. Feels lightweight and so comfortable, you won’t believe it’s super long wear. No touchups needed. Unifies uneven skintone and covers imperfections with buildable, medium-to-full coverage. Stays colour true. Won’t look grey on deeper skintones.

It really is all this and more! It feels really light on my skin and it looks so flawless and airbrushed. This is the FIRST foundation that doesn’t seperate or break up on my chin! Flawless, everywhere, every time!

Dermalogica Clear Start Skin Soothing Hydrating Lotion

I was going to chat about this product in this post, but after typing, I was getting so carried away, that I was doing a full review. I’ve decided to copy all that I typed into a new post. The review for the full range will be coming VERY soon!  All I will say is, is that this product and the entire range has been amazing for Addison’s (my 10yr old) skin .

Before I end off, my favourite book this month was definitely The Accident, which I reviewed in THIS post. I thought it deserved a mention, especially when I’m into books in a BIG way! So much so, that I have a seperate Instagram account for it….if you’re not following me there, head on over and join the #Bookstagram community!

That’s a round up of what I am currently loving! Let me know what you are currently loving, not loving….spot any of my faves that you’d like to try?

I’m Simone, a mom of 3, a wife...obsessed with my family, makeup and books!
