Budget Anti-Ageing Skincare -Nivea Hyaluron Range Review
I went through a period last year, where I wanted all the high-end skincare. The more it cost, the more it works right??? I’m not so sure anymore. I spent over 1k on a face product at the time, and it really didn’t do anything close to what I thought it would do. Also, I realised there’s a bit of a gap on the blog in terms of budget skincare option reviews. I get messages from my budget conscious readers, and I’m blank with recommendations. I don’t want to be that kind of blog. My name, An Ordinary Gal, aspires to be one that is relateable and attainable to all gals, of all budgets. So, when Nivea offered to send me their Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity range to review, I jumped at the chance. Nivea is a household name and brand and have been around for years! I was really keen to try out their skincare, as I’ve never tried anything (besides body products and a face mask) before.
What is the Nivea Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity range about?
The new NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity is a game-changer thanks to the innovative ingredient complex in all four of the products: the Day Cream SPF 15+, the Night Cream, the Bi-phase Nourishing Oil Elixir and the Anti-Spot Treatment Serum. This cellactivating formula has Collagen, Hyaluron, and Elastin-booster in the mix to stimulate the skin’s own cells to activate the synthesis processes of the same structures. This means
MORE Collagen, Hyaluron and Elastin* for your skin!
At my age, I’ll take all the collagen I can get! I received all 4 products in the range, and today I wanted to run through each product and what I think of them.

Elasticity Day Cream SPF 15+(RSP R269,99)
This day cream contains a vital SPF 15+ sun protection for a high level of protection against UVB and UVA rays, preventing future ageing of the skin and age spots from appearing.
The packaging is lovely to look at and it’s nice and compact as well. When you open it, you get that ‘Nivea scent‘….I’m sure you know what I mean. I feel all Nivea’s products have a distinct scent, a very nice light scent…nothing annoying or overpowering. The texture is that of a richer, but still very light moisturiser. I usually use oil-free moisturisers or gels, and they feel very light to the touch, so I thought this may be too rich for me, but it isn’t. I’m finding with my drier skin now in winter, this is perfect for me. It sinks into my skin and leaves it feeling really plumped and hydrated.
I’m also appreciative of the fact that there is an SPF in this day cream, and for a day in the office, I think it’s sufficient. I lean more towards 2-in-1 moisturisers these days that already contain an SPF.

Anti-Spot Treatment Serum (RSP R289,99)
The serum treats existing age spots with its breakthrough formula. Showing an improvement after just four weeks, the treatment is able to visibly reduce the appearance of existing age spots. Usage: Apply morning and evening to a cleansed face before Day or Night Cream.
The packaging on this is lovely, white, clean, sleek, and I love that it has a pump. This is more like a very lightweight moisturiser, and not a ‘serum’ as I imagined it. It’s very comfortable on my skin, but I haven’t used it long enough to speak to the claim that it reduces spots. I will however report back after testing it for a while.

Bi-phase Nourishing Oil Elixir (RSP R289,99)
The Bi-Phase Nourishing Oil Elixir has a dual effect. The highly-concentrated water component means skin is flooded with moisture – and a triple-oil complex ensures that skin is deeply nourished. This innovative formula is ideal for reducing wrinkles, as well as for strengthening, plumping-out and moisturising skin for a younger, healthier and more radiant appearance. The luxurious texture is weightless and immediately absorbed. Usage: Shake well, then combine the two phases and apply daily on a cleansed face and décolletage, massaging into the skin.
Side note: The bottle is beautiful….this whole range, the rose gold and the navy and white… it’s just so visually appealing!
I was very excited to try this oil elixir out! I am a fan of serums, and the fact that this has a water component is what really intrigued me. This is a very nice oil, but I’m not a fan of the consistency. It is thicker and I find that it takes quite a while…upto 2hrs to absorb fully into my skin. That’s not a deal breaker per se, but I am into a serum that absorbs almost immediately. Despite that, my skin felt really great and hydrated the next morning after using it.
Elasticity Night Cream
The velvety, rich texture melts into the skin during sleep providing deep nourishment. Skin is rejuvenated overnight when it is at its most receptive.
This is also in a tub like the day cream and has that same distinctive Nivea scent. I feel the night cream is a bit richer than the day cream, which of course makes sense. The night cream also sinks into the skin well and leaves my skin feeling really nourished and hydrated.
If you’re looking for an anti-ageing skincare routine, you would not be disappointed with the Hyaluron Cellular Filler range. I’m not sure if there’s an eye cream in the range, but that would be something that I’d be keen to try! The day and night creams are a winner for me, followed by the serum (based on texture and claims, but not tested yet by me). What’s great is, is that you can pick these up at Clicks or Dischem when they have a beauty fair on, and score an awesome promotion on an already affordable range!

Hi Simone, super happy that you enjoyed the @NIVEASouthAfrica Hyaluron Cellular-Filler + Elasticity Range. The NIVEA R&D recommended that the Oil Elixir is a product that can be layered according to how much you need. So perhaps your followers could try using a very small amount first and then layer more as needed. Thanks again for a beautiful post and such gorgeous photography.

Hi Sharon. Only a pleasure! I could have used too much, so will definitely try a ‘less is more’ approach and then report back. Thank you so much for the feedback and suggestions, it’s very helpful.
