Ranking my most reached for lipsticks! {Spoiler alert-ALL Nudes!}

Nearing the end of my collaboration with Rayne…..which makes me sad, because I really enjoyed doing this with her! Fun fact, I have been following Rayne since March 2015….literally 2 months after she started her blog. The fact that I have not unfollowed her, or muted her, speaks volumes to the admiration I have for her and her content šŸ˜‰ If you’re not following her already, you really should! Okay gush session over….. today we’re talking lipsticks! Lipsticks are definitely not the highlight of my makeup application. If anything, it’s my least favourite part of my makupe. I always feel like I cannot pair lipsticks with my eyeshadow looks, as a result, I use the ones that I know work….with ANY look, because thankfully, nudes work for everything! Even getting out of trouble with your significant other šŸ˜‰ #JustKidding!!!! LOL. #DontSendNudes for real! That shit will get you in trouble!

Okay, moving along….I am a creature of habit and the choices below will reflect that. Today we’re chatting about my most reached for lipsticks…..

1. InglotxJLo Matte Lipstick – Mauve {RSP R269}

This was my first ever Inglot purchase, and when they collaborated with Jennifer, it was a no-brainer for me. I would pick something up, because I’m obsessed with Jennifer Lopez! I loved everything I ordered, and the balance of the order you’ll see in next Monday’s post. This lipstick, I ordered off the Edgars Beauty site late last year. I did go in store to swatch it before my online purchase, and I figured it looked good, so I bought it. On sale, because I’m thrifty like that.

This nude…is the nude of all nudes on mid-toned skin like mine. It’s the perfect peachy mauvey nude that I’ve been after! The formula is also so amazing…for a matte it’s just so comfortable on the lips and feels nourishing, despite going on a bit drier. This lipstick never leaves my lips feeling malnourished. Also this hangs around for a long time, even with eating and drinking.

2. MAC Matte Lipstick – Velvet Teddy {RSP R250}

Velvet Teddy is probably one of the most talked about MAC lipsticks in the world. This was actually a gift from an amazing friend and I was so excited when it arrived! I find this shade shifts…it looks pink some days, brown some days…it’s like a chameleon sort of shade? Also, different depending on the skin tone that its on. It’s like magic! I think Rayne also has this one on her list, which shows the versatility of the shade, because Rayne is pale AF and I am not….so that’s telling…right?

3. Elizabeth Arden Liquid Lip Gloss – Tulle {RSP R299}

This is another cross post today for Rayne and I…which really hasn’t happened in any of our posts before. The Elizabeth Arden Liquid Lip Gloss is stunning! It’s the most beautiful rose pink, with just enough opacity that makes it more of a lipstick vs ‘just a gloss’…does that make sense? It’s a glossy lipstick…. but not obnoxiously glossy. It is perfection and the colour sticks around for a good few hours. A definite must have for every lipstick lover!

4. MAC Cremesheen Lipstick – Modesty {RSP R250}

I feel this shade is similar to Velvet Teddy, but with slightly more pink undertones, and also this one isn’t matte. It has the most creamy lush sort of formula and glides onto the lips…with just the hint of a sheen. This is the first MAC lipstick I ever purchased, and it’s a staple in my collection.

5. Gosh Velvet Touch Matte Lipstick – Antique {RSP R147)

I didn’t know much about makeup when I bought this lipstick. I was fortunate enough to win some GOSH makeup a long time ago, so it made me curious about the brand and I ended up walking by and grabbing this lipstick one day. This again is a very comfortable matte, and doesn’t go on tugging. I don’t find it drying on my lips at all, something that I love about this formula. ‘Antique’ has a deeper mauvey undertone to it, so it is more of a darker ‘nude’ in my opinion.

So these are my no-brainer-most-reached-for-lipsticks. At any given point, ALL of these will be in my bag, so if I’ve done my makeup in the car (as I do), basically any of these will end up working with my eye-look. They’re foolproof for Simone, who can’t seem to match anything, but a nude to her eyeshadow. Please tell me I’m not alone with this problem????Ā

That’s that for this week’s favourite lipstick moment…next we’ll head over to Rayne’s postRayne’s post to see what she’s loving in her lipstick collection! Let me know what your favourite brand and shade of lipstick is. Are you more of a bold lip gal? Or a nude loving gal such as myself?

Iā€™m Simone, a mom of 3, a wife...obsessed with my family, makeup and books!
