Current favourites {September 2019}

What a huge slab you have there Simone…. Why yes I do…. *insert smirky face* Guys, today’s post is a goodie!! I haven’t done a current favourites post since April! Wow, I can’t believe it’s been that long! Honestly though, favourites don’t just change on the 1st of every month, so I do prefer spacing these sort of posts out a bit. It gives me a chance to try new products, fall in love with existing products, etc. As I’m typing this line though, I have no idea what I’m even including yet…. So this post will be a surprise for me too šŸ™‚ Let’s get comfy and read about my current favourites……

Wet n Wild Sponge

Wet n Wild Beauty Sponge

This is a newer addition to my makeup collection, but I am besotted with this sponge. I just feel like it is super soft, blends my foundation well, and it’s soooo affordable!! What’s not to love? Also, I’ve washed it a few times now and it’s not torn or bled. You should go pick one up if you haven’t yet gotten one! Many of you already have picked this up and I know you love it as much as I do.

California Love Palette

Colourpop California Love Palette

California Love….. no, not the Tupac song (I really hope you’re not asking: Who is this Tupac??)….one of Colourpop’s 12 pan eyeshadow palettes was a gift from Shop Betty Online. I wish I could explain the euphoria I felt when I opened this palette. It is pure perfection for my warm tone loving soul! I’ve reviewed a few Colourpop palettes in my day and I can say without a doubt, you can’t go wrong with any of their palettes. Their mattes blend like a dream, always…. I’ve owned 5 palettes I think, and I’ve never had an issue with a matte shadow. Sometimes the shimmers can be a little ‘fall-outty’, but with this palette, I haven’t experienced that. I reached for it so many times after receiving it, I’ve banned myself from using it for a month. The love affair is real.

Bad Gal Lash Mascara

I know this mascara is like a stuck record on the blog…..but I’m super in to it at the moment. My beloved Essence mascara is due to be repurchased, but I am trying to use what I have first. I’m glad, because I’ve forgotten how much I love this mascara!

Maybelline’s Snapscara

This is also a newer item, and I am a bit meh about the size of the brush (it’s HUGE), but I love the formula on this mascara. With some patience and practice, you get the most gorgeous, wispy lashes. Also, this can be removed with just water….it’s a breeze to remove. Yay for no panda eyes!

Eight Hour Great 8 Moisturizer

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Great 8 Moisturiser

1 step, 8 great benefits. More than a moisturizer, more than an SPF, Great 8ā„¢ is your all-in-one protector and perfector for healthy-looking, glowing skin. Addictive, translucent gel formula goes on clear––no white cast or residue. Suitable for all skin types.

  • UVA/UVB: Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 35
  • POLLUTION: Protects against damaging effects of pollution
  • INFRARED: Protects against infrared rays
  • BLUE LIGHT: Protects against the effects of blue light
  • HYDRATE: All-day hydration
  • BRIGHTEN: Leaves skin with a luminous, healthy glow
  • PURIFY: Helps eliminate free radical damage
  • OIL CONTROL: Controls excess oil and visibly minimizes pores with continued use

I recently finished my La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + moisturiser (why I’ve never featured it in a faves, I have NO IDEA) and was on the hunt for a new SPF/Moisturiser combo. When I saw Elizabeth Arden launching the Great 8 moisturiser, I knew I needed to try it…BUT I was thinking…eeek, is it going to feel like the actual Eight Hour cream? Rest assured, this doesn’t feel like Eight Hour cream on your face. This is amazingly lightweight, with a gel-like consistency and it’s fast absorbing. Also, there’s no white cast like some products containing SPF can leave on your face. This also makes an excellent primer, so moisturiser, SPF AND primer??? Does it get any more multi-purpose than that? I absolutely love this moisturiser…test it out if you get the opportunity.

Ellips Hair Vitamins

Ellips Hair Treatment Capsules

When I first saw these, I had never heard of the brand and I thought….#IssaGimmick! Boy am I eating humble pie! These capsules have changed the game when it comes to heat drying my hair and Addison’s. I never actually blow dry my hair, because I just feel like it comes out not looking like I even tried. Dry, frizzes fast…and it just looks damaged. Since using the Ellips Hair treatment capsules…those days are gone. My hair feels so soft and sleek…and nourished, without being weighed down at all. I’m a huge fan…. particularly of the pink and orange capsules, but also partial to the black. I reckon they’re all just fantastic. Have you tried them?

Cadbury Big Taste

Cadbury Big Taste Choco Biscuit Crunch

NEW A BIG bar with a big taste and 26 cm long!! Cadbury Dairy Milk combined with biscuit crunch with chocolate and milk crĆØme filling. Milk chocolate with cocoa creme filling (27%), milk creme filling (18% and a layer of biscuit (13%).

Last, but certainly not least….. Okay, gals…don’t hate me if you can’t find this monster of a chocolate anywhere. lol. I spotted this in Dischem a few weeks ago and of course, HAD TO buy it. Boy did I practice restraint…..I told my husband we could not touch this until the time was right. There needed to be an occasion worthy of this slab. It did not disappoint…..yummo… I wish I had one right now. All this post has done, is make me crave this monster of a chocolate. lol. It’s crunchy and sweet (but not overly crazy sweet)….and different. Chocolate has gotten pretty crazy in the last few years….and we’ve kind of seen it all, so big props to Cadbury for this one. I think it’s a great slab. At R89,95….you need to really be a chocolate lover for the splurge…. and I am that chocolate lover, so I will be going to pick up another one. Also, it contains the #CocoaLife logo, so I’m also doing my part for the people šŸ˜‰

Side note: I was hoping the white was more of a marshmallow sort of texture, from looking at the picture. Reading the description though, I see it’s a creme and that’s exactly what it is.Ā

That’s a wrap….

So that’s a wrap for this current favourites post! Once I started thinking about what I’ve been loving….I realised, quite a bit….but I don’t want this post to go on forever, so I’m hitting the brakes on it. It was a good month in terms of makeup wearing, skin care products and in fact, there’s a few more items I want to speak about. So I may have an additional favourites sort of post up soon.

Let me know what you’ve been loving….because maybe I’m missing out and I need to go and hunt down your favourite….to make it my favourite šŸ˜‰

GIVEAWAY ALERT – I currently have a HUGE giveaway happening on my social accounts, to check them out to enter:

Note: The Colourpop palette, Ellips Hair Treatment capsules and the Elizabeth Arden Moisturiser was received in PR. I have been using it for weeks and in some cases, months. I would go and buy all of these products with my kids school fees if I needed to….the love is real. So please know that I won’t just feature something in favourites to stay on a PR list or to dupe you into buying something. I shouldn’t need to say this, but just in case…. <3Ā

Sherry I must say, I bought the 2nd last one at Dischem and I’ve never spotted another one since then. So I think they could have been a limited edition or once off sort of launch. So could very well be that it has been discontinued. šŸ™

Chocolate is my weakness and you are killing me with that Cadbury’s 26cm slab.
