My Lockdown Essentials {Netflix picks & Skincare} + Elizabeth Arden Giveaway!!

This lockdown life is something else hey??? I don’t know if I ever thought back in March, that in July we’d still be living this way. It seems masks, sanitising groceries and never hugging people again will be our new norm…. As tough as lockdown has been, I’ve truly come to appreciate so many things. My family, we truly are a team….and my husband, mom and I work well together in our different roles w.r.t. cleaning. I’ve enjoyed letting my skin breathe and to be makeup free for months (though these lockdown breakouts are also something else). I’ve discovered great new businesses, products….um…and I enjoy cleaning toilets. I know….I don’t even know what to say for myself… Also, I have a passion for writing on the blog, that has nothing to do with hoping to get a campaign or being on a deadline with a brand. I have been writing what and when I want to. Not that I did much sponsored stuff….but sometimes it becomes overwhelming!

Lockdown Essentials

What a long introduction!! Today I wanted to chat about my favourites…my lockdown essentials and then to celebrate my blog turning 4 YEARS OLD in June, I am also kicking off a WEEK OF GIVEAWAYS!!! I want to spread some lockdown cheer, and what better way than giving away some of my absolute favourite products?? Also, not every product or topic I discuss (like Netflix) will be linked to a giveaway…. I hope that makes sense?? More about today’s giveaway at the end of this post!

I’ve chosen the 2 most important categories for today’s post! NETFLIX and my SKIN CARE! WIthout Netflix…. I don’t know what I would have done….and being able to treat my skin with great products, has been a face saver! Okay, without further ado…my first batch of lockdown essentials:

Netflix recommendations

Guys, what would we even have done without Netflix during lockdown??? I have binged until 3 in the morning, binged all day and night… binged like there was no tomorrow, because truly some days it felt like there was literally…NO TOMORROW! Some of my favourite discoveries:

  • Blood and Water (South African production, super talented cast, think possible Zephany Nurse real life situation meets Gossip Girl)
  • Crazy Delicious (Cooking show, in a ‘Garden of Eden’ setting, the most amazing food creations!)
  • Ozark (Pre-lockdown fave…. Breaking Bad meets money laundering)
  • Before I Fall (This is a movie, much like Groundhog Day, only it’s not comedic.)
  • When They See Us (A must watch, based on the real life story of 5 black boys jailed for a crime they did not commit)

Skin Care

I have enjoyed playing around with my skin care and getting use out of my products. There are some products I didn’t use before lockdown, because perhaps it’s a day cream that does not contain an SPF, so I’d shelve it. Now that I am in the house, I do wear SPF still most days, but other days I can use whatever. Also, some days I do nothing…..and then the bare minimum will do!

  • Elizabeth Arden’s 8HR Miracle Mist (No introduction needed! Some lazy nights, this is all I use after cleansing)
  • Environ’s Tri BioBotanical Revival Masque (In the absence of facials and skin peels, this mask is absolutely amazing!)
  • Oh So Heavenly Sole Therapy Heel Balm and their overnight treatment (a must have to end off your home pedicure)
  • Elizabeth Arden’s Vitamin C Ceramide Capsules (These are so hydrating and I love having Vitamin C in my skin care routine)
  • Clarins Double Serum (I finished mine during lockdown, but you know this is one of my tried, tested and repurchased)
  • Bioderma Atoderm SOS Spray (for preventing razor burn)

        So at first I had been craving he Ceramide Capsules that I’ve seen on your insta page – but now after reading about the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist as the lazy post cleanse moment I’m saying YES PLEASE to lazy skincare. I’m just too tired after a day of toddlers and my pregnant body to do all of the things.

I have heard such alot of great things about it and I think that the older one gets the more attention you need to pay to your skincare routine. I think with the harshness of winter sne my age of course i need to see what this Miracle Mist would do for me.

        Definitely the Elizabeth Arden White Tea Mandarin Blossom EDT 100ml. My mom deserves this prize. My mom, Sharon van Niekerk is the best mom and gives all of herself to us and to others. She is an occupational therapist at tygerberg hospice. She helps patients rehabilitate after accidents and operations, aswell as making patients comfortable while they’re on their death bed. She is an essential worker so she has to get up at 7AM every morning while we all sleep late. Her hospice has become an overflow for typerberg hospital during lockdown so she is being put at risk daily for COVID-19. She is honestly the best mom and my hero. ❤️

    The 8 hour miracle mist sounds so refreshing!
    This winter has made my skin dry, dull, dehydrated & sick looking 😔 I’ve tried many potions but with no joy. Would really love to try this mist ♥️ & the fragrance too. It looks so cool

    I truly enjoy reading blog posts but this one specifically was such a delight to read as it’s blatantly the truth and simple to read. No false info etc. Love the details on lockdown and netflix. Definitely will give those Netflix suggestions a try.

    Also such a cool, fun giveaway for skin junkies like myself. I’d be super excited about all the items but mostly the retinol ceramide capsules bc the lockdown has been doing THE MOST to my skin smh 🥴🥴

    Congratulations on your 4 Year Blog Birthday! What an achievement to have kept it going for 4 years – and what a credit to you to have built such an incredible following over this time!
    In addition to loads of other things (erm, Woolworths products and Joseph Joseph bank-breakers), you’ve now introduced me to three amazing sounding Elizabeth Arden products that I didn’t even know existed until reading your post.
