The 130-Storey Treehouse, by Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton {Kids book reviews}

It’s no secret that I read a lot of books. I am also trying to raise kids who love reading. I’ve lost Addison along the way though, she has very specific interests, so books that entice her are few and far between at this stage 🙁 Joshua is also becoming a bit more picky, for example he loves Rowley Jefferson, but not so much a fan of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series (that Addison loves) and they’re by the same author?? Anyways, a series he is obsessed about though, is the Storey Treehouse series. He has read all 9 books in the series and as soon as he finished the 9th one he asked: So where is the next one? It was a bit of a wait, but eventually we got our hands on a copy of The 130-Storey Treehouse! I wrapped it up for Christmas and it was the gift that made Joshua go: YES!  (Complete with fist pump)

What is The 130-Storey Treehouse about?

This is our Treehouse, come on up!

We’ve added 13 news levels to our Treehouse including soap bubble blaster, a GRABINATOR (it can grab anything from anywhere at any time), a time-wasting level, a toilet paper factory (because you can never have too much toilet paper) and an extraterrestrial observation centre…

Which will come in handy when giant flying eyeballs from outer space come to grabinate US!The 130-Storey Treehouse

Review

First a bit of a recap, the book centres around Terry and Andy who build this 13-Storey Treehouse. Every book adds 13 more levels to the treehouse. So it’s 13-Storey, 26-Storey, 39-Storey and so forth. Every level adds something new and crazy to the treehouse.

Joshua loves these books, because they’re fun and crazy…just loaded with 2 kids who have mind-blowing adventures. He loves coming to me and going: So you remember Andy and Terry right? You won’t believe what they did…..

At 330 something pages, this may seem like a thick book, but there are quite a few illustrations in the book, so it’s actually quite a quick read. Joshua read this book in less than 2 days. For kids who are not keen on reading yet, this is a great series, because the illustrations make them feel as if the book is more kiddie friendly, vs a novel…. if that makes sense? This will suit your more advanced readers, as well as your not so advanced reader, aged 7-10.

Box sets are a money saver!

I bought Joshua the box set about 2yrs ago, which is very cost effective, versus buying them seperately. The additional books we purchase individually. The Storey Treehouse books are available at all leading book retailers, and The 130-Storey Treehouse retails for around R145.
