Z is for Zack, by Jaco Jacobs {Great recommendations for beginner readers!}
It’s all fun and games reading books to your sweet cooing baby, but once they start school, reading can feel like an Olympic sports! The kids need to read x amount of books to get their reading certificates/badges, so you always need a good supply of age appropriate books to get the task done. Thankfully, being a book blogger, I do get exposed to authors I may never have heard about, and I love to share those gem finds with you all! Best of all, this is also a local author, so I’m always excited to discover amazing local authors! Jaco Jacobs has a great series of books, called Z is for Zack, and today I want to share some more about it!
What is Z is for Zack about?
The original Zackie Mostert series already has thousands of young fans – and now there’s also a reading series, perfect for beginner readers. Each book in the series features bright full-colour illustrations and simple, easy-to-read text that make these fun-filled stories accessible to young readers. Zack’s adventures with his dog, Frankenstein, his best friend, Vincent, the troublemaker Brent and their grumpy neighbour Mrs Longbottom makes learning to read loads of fun!
My Thoughts
This is such a great series for beginner readers, I’d say for around ages 6-8. The books are all 32 pages long, with really expressive and colourful illustrations. I love how every book starts with an introduction to Zack and his house. I find kids really react to familiarity in their books, so I know kids will love getting to know Zack, Vincent, Frankenstein and even Brent and Mrs Longbottom! Even though Adam isn’t able to read these himself yet, he loves for me to read this to him, and even tell the story himself based on the illustrations.
This series will help your kid fill their reading list up in no time! The Z is for Zack books retail for around R60 each and are available at all leading book retailers. I have spotted them on sale from R39 on Takealot.com 😉
