Places to visit in Gqeberha
I’m not sure if we’re all feeling the pinch when it comes to our finances, but I definitely am…. so when we head out for a meal or an outing with the kids, I want it to be the best meal or the best experience possible! Bang for my buck so to speak. It is December and some of you may be travelling through our beautiful little city, so I thought I’d share some of my recommendations for places to visit (and eat) in Gqeberha!
1. Addo Elephant National Park
Addo Elephant Park is now the third largest national park in South Africa! You’ll spot lions, Herds of elephant, hyenas and much much more! There are also hiking trails and different types of accommodation to suit all budgets…if you want to plan a little getaway at the same time.

2. Grass Roof
If you’re looking for somewhere to have a lovely lunch, maybe you want to shop at a farm stall…and you need entertainment for your kids, I recommend that you pay Grass Roof a visit. There’s a bike park, a kids play area, a farm stall and a menu that covers probably anything you could possibly want to eat. Grass Roof is surrounded by the beautiful countryside, so you’ll have a lovely view while you sip your coffee 😉
3. Gqeberha Beaches (Any one of them!)
People come from far and wide just to visit our beaches in Gqeberha. I know my friends who move to different cities, the first thing they talk about missing is our beautiful beaches. I can’t say which beach, because we’re lucky enough to have a few options in our city, and the best thing about them? They’re free to go to! Whether you decide to visit Sardinia Bay, Hobie beach, King’s beach (which also has a skate park), Pollock beach (great for surfing) or van Stadens, please, don’t forget your sunscreen!

4. The Boardwalk Mall
The Boardwalk Mall has been newly revamped and boasts over 90 tenants! The concept around this mall is to provide locals and tourists with the ultimate convenience, retail and family entertainment under one roof, right on our beachfront. There are a range of retail outlets, covering fashion, groceries, toiletries and then also a game centre, a cinema and your dining options are endless.
So now you know where you want to go when you visit our city, but how to get there? SANI Car Rental at Gqeberha International Airport has got you covered 😉
The SANI brand was established in 1997. SANI Car Rental is a South African homegrown car rental company. Vehicles available to rent include compact cars, economy cars, premium cars, people carriers and SUVs. SANI Car Rental serves customers throughout South Africa including at all major local and international airports.
Are you travelling at all during this festive season? Also, if you’re a Gqeberha resident, which place would you add to this list?
